Wanna Play Your Ps1 Games On Psp?

so i've had time to mess around with it.

first off, if you aint upgraded to custom firmware give it a go becuase its pretty damn good, and quite EASY to do.

the actual emu is amazing never had i thought that, me being a simple 1.50 boy would ever get to play games from the marketplace let alone any game that i've thrown at it.

niceone sony you did a good job, of leaving nice holes in this firmware. :p

and DCGM you have no idea what your missing out on :p

Fortunately for me, I'm not as stupid as your friends.

When I upgraded, I didnt give a flying fuck about anything but commercial PSP games. It was an honest mistake. Something I'll have to live with ;)

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to play some dungeons & dragons!

Which D&D game are you playing?

As for the PS1 emulator, it's awesome. I was playing my Tekken 3 (I own Tekken 3 and many others) on my PSP and it was awesome!

I wonder if Soul Calibur works too? I'm going to try Gran Turismo next. Sorely missing a good car racing game on a hand-held.

PSP is looking good now...

Now I'm hearing rumours about a TA-082 downgrader about to be released

I recall reading something similar, though it seems if you choose to downgrade, you risk bricking your psp if you ever upgrade again; don't know if this is what your referring to what with the slew of phony news flying around the psp scene. Speaking of which, can anyone recommend any trustworthy sites with psp updates (and perhaps a community where everyone doesnt whine all the time)?

Sorry for jacking your thread with all these questions; I'm very new to the psp scene and I'm trying to catch up; it's not as cut-and-dry as our beloved gp32/2x's

Just read all this. I'm stunned.

I love my 1.5 psp...

Can anyone answer me this quick question? I am running on 1.5 with devhook. Can I just start with the this version of Dark Alex's freeware, or should I upgrade by degrees?

I have looked on the other forums, but they don't tell me...

:( I really want to try this out! I've been avoiding getting a PSP for so long and now I have to figure out how to get a compatible one... :(

Ok, I just dusted off my PSP and am recharging as I type this. I have FW 2.60, so I'm assuming I can run this thing (I just D/L'd it), but since I suffer from accute idiot-itis, I don't know wht to do next. Could some kind soul give me a hand here? A random PM would be very much appreciated (and yes, I read the readme, but it says this is an update to OE-A, so I assume (again) that I need OE-A first).

I don't think any of this is as easy as putting some roms in a folder and running a .GPE file :(

I managed to pick up a used 1.5 PSP from ebay for £50. The only fault is a broken UMD drive (which I have the parts to fix but can't find my tools lol) but it's my second unit that I only got for messing around with this stuff on so I'm not bothered about that.

I'm pretty sure a proper TA-082 downgrader will be released quite soon so the only thing you really need to be sure of is that the firmware is no higher than 2.71. I would still try to get a non-TA-082 though if possible.

There are a few things you'll have to do before you can install 3.02OE-B.

1) Use an official Sony 2.71 update to get your PSP to 2.71
2) Use Dark Alex's downgrader to get your PSP back down to 1.5
3) Install OE-A

I actually started with a 2.60 PSP and it's not too difficult but it does scare the crap out of you everytime you flash the firmware, lol.

EDIT: Forgot to add in step 2 you need to install HEN-C so you can actually run the downgrader.

Many MANY thanks, subcon969!! :D

I got all the needed files, and Lunar ready to rip. Will try this later tonight ... but erm, what's all this about hot shots golf 2? Will I need the actual game? (I don't have my PS3 ready for downloading stuff yet, I still need to get a wireless setup)

Thanks again :)

Yeah, Dark Alex wrote the converter to specifically use data from the Hot Shots 2 eboot. That way he doesn't have to include illegal code in his program I guess. I've heard some people used other games from the PS3 store but the readme does say to use Hot Shots. I assume a lot of people have obtained a 'backup' of this game here since the PS3 isn't even released in UK till March.
