Pyra TWO MONTHS - Now on Steam and itch.io!

Nice ! Do you plan to release it for Pandora as well?

The larger areas in the game run a bit slow on the Pandora so probably not.

@undexsym You know who would be an awesome character? @DaMummy Dispensing dry humor while fighting you.

And of course This guy:

(but be careful, it's from a game "Rolling Thunder 2" and is copyrighted). And we have a serial... porter... that could digitize you.

I have vague plans to add most of the forum staff and some members to the game. I'll prioritise the people I hate the least :)

Does Wally have a sentai pose and flashy/witty remark when he wins?

Weird, I was thinking about adding something like this today before you said that...

The Pyra had so many obstacles and "enemies" in the making, it should be an easy task to find enough inspiration for Boss Monsters. xD.

Needs more bad guys. Preferably those who volunteer from the forums. Needs forum references too.

So, count me in. Keymat for a face - obviously. Weapons... Long red styluses with a neon yellow tip that I throw?

The windup times on the enemy look random, that's evil

But other than that, very cool.
Is it hard to build levels? Can you do stairs, stacked floors?

Very true, but I might stay away from them to make sure there are no hurt feelings/lawsuits. Wally's kindheartedness was my personal obstacle to getting everyone banned :-||

What engine are you writing this in? Or is it entirely homebrew?
Entirely homebrew. The same little engine I wrote for the snake games.

First volunteer! That'll make a good spear.

I can't sneak anything past your keen Dark Souls eyes:)They are indeed random right now just to make testing it more fun for me. They will be easier to predict on release.
I made a graphical world editor so it's not too hard for me. Stairs, ladders and stacked floors are all possible and present in the first dungeon. I'm going for the verticality and complexity I love from those games.

lol would be nice if the hammer looked like that but again copyrighted stuff.

Edit: Game looks fun too :p

I did not had the community in mind at all, more like certain companies that made ED's life more complicated than it had to be during the pyra development. ;) It should be possible to transfer these obstacles into some boss monsters.

Taking the great liberty of assuming I am only moderately hated, might I point out that I am, in fact, a transdimensional horse of the apocalypse? Not a skeletal one though, because those keep falling apart.

I'm not sure how far you can go before stepping on the toes of Sir T.P.'s estate and their legal team, but there might be some interesting game mechanics to be had involving unconventional space/time.

Suppose this big white horse appeared with x health points, and continued to attempt to kick the protagonist until reduced to x-y, when it would gallop away into another dimension. (What would that look like?)
This would happen several times but in a random order (chosen at game setup, but hidden from the user.) with random values of y

So on the first encounter, the horse has 8/10 health points. You attack it until it's reduced to 5/10. It vanishes.
On the second encounter, it has 2/10. You reduce it to 0/10, and it is permanently banished to Death's Domain. (or dies?)
On the third encounter, it starts with 10/10 and you fight it down to 8/10
On the fourth encounter, you fight it down from 5/10 to 2/10

That way, the human player could make strategic use of known fixed points in time, but only with a good memory!

Wow, that's a really good idea. It's the kind of thing I can only dream of being able to do. I think if I were to do something like this I'd have to simplify it a little:

First encounter, 2/10 - 0/10
Second encounter, 5/10 - 2/10
Third encounter, 8/10 - 5/10
Fourth encounter, 10/10 - 8/10

Removing fun but complex strategic elements, I think fighting a weak horse that gets stronger after every encounter because it's had fewer battles with you would be a good way to steadily increase the difficulty. It's not as interesting but makes a T.P. creation less of a nightmare to implement...

wow! hopefully you can make your own cameo appearance in the game. (flying snake boss.)

my character (fiery pi-eyed avatar up there) would probably look/act like a doom beholder, firing lasers or letters (for the keyboard threads) out of its eyes. i can dream :).

though, i did draw some other pi-eyed characters here.
