The Reason I Don't Want Next Gen

Metal Gear 1 WAS better, the story was very intresting, and sometimes you had to go back to the beginning. I didn't had that "level" feeling like MGS:2 but more that "world" feeling. That's 1 think what I missed in MGS:2 for sure. And then the different endings... the bosses, and offcourse the second disc :D
MGS1 doesn't have Raiden, though. ;)

Im actually just playing through MGS2 right now. (yeah i know im a few years late :D ). Figured I might as well play through that before i start this copy of MGS3 i have sitting here.

And for the record, Solid Snake > Raiden.

3. Then you have one game in particulair, Metal Gear Solid (PSX). The first game was so great and everybody wanted to buy MGS:2 (PS2), and my opinion is: THAT GAME SUCKED ASS and still Konami or whatever company creats the MGS keep creating Metal Gear games which still SUCK!

technically mgs is a sequel anyway. there were two metal gear games before it (metal gear and snake's revenge, both for nes). metal gear is an amazing game...having never played the "solids" i went straight from the nes metal gear to mgs3 and was amazed at how similar they are (and in this case that's a good thing). there's also mg2: solid snake, which unfortunately i've never been able to play.

When I look at the market of jRPGs I can see that every time game leaves japan and goes to the US or somewhere with money, it's almost 99% that this game will have a sequel...and a sequel of it....and so on. Look at Final fantasy for example. They sure have good story, but after FFX i just got fed up.
Then there are games that don't leave japan/korea and they usualy get a sequel if they're really good, in their opinion of course. That's why you have thousands of different games there with not so many sequels.
In other words. Isn't it something wrong with fckn big commercial market? People want to get most cash of the game and forget about gamers...damn I'm lamenting again >.>

The first two Metal Gears are available on the special edition of MGS3. I'm tempted to buy it again just to get at them.

It is worth it! They are ports of the superior MSX versions (almost seems emulated). They also changed them a bit, so the weapon/item select screens works like the Solid series.

No, only the first one. The second MG game never made it to the NES. Instead we got the absolutely shitty Snake's Revenge.

Never played MG on NES, only emulated. Same for Snakes Revenge, but with both versions "spotted" ment "death" which annoyed me :)

Well, just about the entire Metal Gear series is like that. You can sometimes fight your way out, but the whole point is not to get caught at all.

I actually enjoyed Snakes Revenge for NES, even though it wasnt a "real" metal gear game. It was the first one i played, so i supposed i didnt have anything to compare it to yet. But i still think its a fun game on its own.

I'm not one to joing the new "Revolution"in gaming... Wiiiiiiiiiiiii!

In fact, this "new generation" has been out/couldv've been done years ago on a PC. I've always been a PC gamer, and only when a console has been dead and gone will I even think of purchasing it, hence my Sega fanaticism.

About sequels, yes, they are really annoying. Up to a point, a franchise goes bad. For Sonic, the pinnacle of that franchise was Sonic 3, then they took a different direction altogether. For Mortal Kombat, that was Ultimate MK3, then the franchise went south, too. I'm not only partial to things of the 'oldschool', the first Soul Calibur was/is the only game ign.com rated a perfect ten. I really don't care after that.

So, with the sequel card aside, I just can't justify buying something that will have nothing new to offer (at least nothing worth playing, to you Wii fans out there...) but better graphics. A game like GTA: SA was developed perfectly; it had sub-par graphics, obviously sacrificed for the massive content in that game. I'd like to see more of that before I buy some shitty Microsoft invention. I already have one of those, and it doesn't work too well (Windows XP).

16 bit is where it will always be.

Hey ... wasn't there a Metal Gear in Snatcher (Sega CD)?
My friend said yes there was.
