Hair Straighteners.

EDIT: Ze forum, she ees done!

Looks good :)
But no Pandora section, what a bummer.

Gp32x and Pandorapress do pandora best. I realised there is no point in me confusing newbies while offering a second rate pandora community.

EDIT: Quote, I'm gonna post some before and after ghd pics after work. You may be surprised.

Yes, I'm not sure what exactly Nova's got planned for the transition. Most members are going to want to stay here, tbh.

Allow me to answer everyone's questions concisely and for the last time. I shall begin with an anecdote.

When the GP32 launched, it was amidst a massive GBA hacker scene, and it drew attention from this area, and some homebrew GBA sites were inclusive of the GP32. But it wasn't until Hando launched GP32x, a website and forum dedicated to the GP32, that a community began to blossom around it. Then the GP2x came out, and the community jumped ship, mostly. The Wiz followed, but it's launch was mired by a project spearheaded by GP32x 'celebrities', shall we say? This is all well and good, but it stole a lot of focus from the Wiz, which you could argue could have been as big as the GP2x.

I can't let this happen to the Caanoo as well. I can't allow a perfectly good homebrew console to fall by the wayside. If it does, it will certainly be GPH's last console.
As you've probably seen, the reception to it, mainly by the pandora owners or supporters has been less than warm, and people interested in the console will be drawn here and disappointed by the lack of support.

Thus I want to set up a dedicated community for new owners of the Wiz and the Caanoo. And anyone else who fancies joining.

As for news, the Pandora has it's own news site, why can't the Wizanoo? The GP32x front page is complicated, with most of the Wiz news being saturated by Pandora posts. Less than 1000 people own a pandora atm. Extrapolate the figures, and you'll see that when everyone who ordered, has one, the Wiz news will be very diluted, and hard to find.
Also, the idea that anyone can post news means that developers can post their own games and applications right there on the blog.

I think that's it. Did I miss anything?

I hope you _really_ thought about this and don't do more damage in the end to the Caanoo than good. The Open Source scene is generally split and you might push things just further.

That seems to sum it up well.
You still havn't said how you plan to divert users to the new forum though. The only way to do this properly would be to get ED's consent. He could link Wizanoo users to openXile or something. The only people who actually know about this are the few people who read the discussion cube.

I doubt he agrees with all this, however.

Edit: Nova, I'm holding you to that pictures post.

Well new users are more likely to find us through search engines. We get a LOT of traffic through search engines believe it or not.

I don't think a forum should be set up with the intent of forcing Wiz users from GP32x over to it. However, if Nova wants oX to have a forum and people choose to use it over time then that is that I guess. Such a second home may be more useful if the Pandora section of this site does grow substantially and it leads to the Wiz/Caanoo/whatever getting serious negative attention on here.

I would like an unbiased non-fanboy Pandora news site, and by that I mean news about what's not right about the Pandora. I have a pre-order, yes, but I'm more interested in what's going wrong, both with OPT and their console. If I want to know how wonderful the Pandora is, I'm more than well served by PandoraPress and GP32X. Finding info about potential problems and stuff to look out for is harder in amongst the "ZOMG ITS WONDERFUL" posts. And we all know there have been problems.

It's a shame that OpenXile won't be helping balance things out, tbh.

D.

^ A situation that currently applies to Pandorapress too. I'm taking that on as feedback though Dunny. Perhaps I should use this weekend to do another roundup of user reviews.

OpenXile is looking great Nova, I agree that a good Wiz/Caanoo news feed is needed. Oh and I want to see your hair too.

Suck it bitches.

I'm not sure who I'm rooting for, I guess if I have to choose then I'm rooting to see Nova's hair.

Edit: The account activation email I got from the openXile forums says that it came from an unknown sender, you might want to look into getting that changed.

*sigh*

As loathed as I am to reveal pics of myself, here is my hair as of a few years ago:

So yeah, those £100 hair straighteners were damned important :(

Dapper!

Is it just a broken hinge, something you can DIY fix? Or have you broken something electrical and dangerous?

Loctite 406 is magic for plastic repair.

One of the tongs has kinda broken in places, leaving it hanging off. This I have 'repaired' with tape.

And now a chunk of plastic has fallen off leaving the heating element exposed.

I might look at that loctite stuff, or I might just have to bite the bullet and save for a new pair.

^ Do they still work? And those pics have inspired me to try and straighten my hair again. It seems curly hair can be tamed :D.

Are you fiddling around with oX? It's showing the mobile theme on my desktop :S.
