Purely out of interest i'd like to hear opinions and info anyone might have on the next Gamepark handheld. I haven't heard a lot about it, is it definately going to appear, or is this just speculation? And if it is, do you think they'll make the smart move of making it backwardly compatible to broaden its games support even further, like the PS2?

There are two other threads about this. ;) It has been delayed indefinetly, so don't worry about it.

I'm not worried really, just interested. The gp32 is such a perfect handheld for emulation and homebrew development, i'm just wondering if they get out of whatever troubles they're in at the moment and manage to get a mk2 console out, will they continue to support everything thats been achieved on the gp32 so far by ensuring compatability?

I'll have a search for the threads too, thanks :)

Too bad GamePark has been so slow to produce a new GP32.

A fully compatible GP32 BLU with 400Mhz, 32-64MB RAM, SNES button layout and a removable li-ion battery (I like them) would be better than a PSP to me. Oh, and also make it a bit sleeker and available in black. :)

maybe read the other threads that have been started since like 5 months ago. and maybe realize that there won't be a new one for a long time.

Its gotta be nice and slick and shiny Acrylic Black though. Oohhh, soo sexy.

I was wondering, would It be to hard to get a team together and design our own handheld. We could customize anyway we want. And im sure there is a company that you can send schematics and stuff to, and they would build it. Hmm, now that I think about it, it does seem like a good Idea. To bad im only 15... but that didnt stop me from programming at the age of 10.

HAHAHaH!!!! LETS BEAT GAMEPARK TO IT!!!!!

I may sound a little naive on how hard it is to make a handheld, but if i were to chose a processor, the PXA270 (http://www.intel.com/design/embeddedpca/applicationsprocessors/302302.htm) seems to be a suitable processor for a good gaming handheld. Up to 500mhz!

mmmm, imagine, full speed snes, genesis, and maybe even half speed n64  .

HAHAHA, it would also be novel to have my friends go, WTF IS THAT?! And then I say, Hah, its a secret handheld only a certain number of people can get, and then they go away crying.

Lol, im getting too excited. Well, I gotta go to bed, cheers and I hope kerry wins!

what?

edit: oh, wow i thought that was like a lie or something
apparently it ships next year
maybe it will happen

i would buy it release day

what a great day that would be!

There is a handheld XP machine out now but it's lacking good game controls (needs a usb wrap around control I think.. so that the controls are on the side like the gba or gp32) it's called the OQO Model 1, kinda cool if you ask me a whole computer stuck into a handheld with a popout keyboard.

As for backwards compatability- the GP is basically an ARM, and an LCD display +some built in sound hardware. I put bets on the next one having an arm as well- so compatability should be good. dunno about SMC's though, they will probably use MMC or something ith more capacity.

A 1 ghz machine with a nearly $2000 price tag? I think not. :p

We can find even better in Japan actually ;)
The Sony Vaio U50 or the Vaio U70 are by far more powerfull than the OQO ;)

The U70 is a great "handled" gaming "ultimate" machine under XP for rich ppl lol
but still can't find a perfect one with a handled layout like our GP32 ;p

PPC for exemple are something so uncomfortable to play ;p

To come back about the 'famous' Eve I haven't hear about a true release date yet & the design seems abit 'strage' for me ;p but at a cheap price (300 bucks max) I would be interested if we can play Neo Geo & Mame & Amiga games without troubles ;p
