Mem cards are not committed to disk, but at least they work now :) Fyi, I tried calling sync, just in case that was the problem, and no joy.

GTA 1 + 2 both seem to prefer a cycle setting of 1, 100% PSX clock.

[edit]

Zod, I love you man, my Final Fantasy save states that appeared corrupted in 070707 now load fine o_O.

Great vid! Thanks for making this one. It seems like full speed to me, only the sound isn't right.

Will certainly try this myself, amazing job Zodttd! I never thought we would have games like this running full speed on the gp2x.

Wow, Diablo's looking really playable!

Okay so C&C is pretty much fullspeed, MK Trilogy's close as well, and Resident Evil and Wipeout need a little extra boost to get there.

This is why I donated.

Praise be to Zod! :D

hey zod now that castlevania is fixed, do you think you could be able to resolve the bugs in Oddworld games? they run damn fast, and are excellent games!

I think there's a long way to go before game-specific fixes are done. The overall accuracy of the emulator needs work, and things should start to clean up from there. Game-specific fixes should be handled as something of a last resort.

Impressive work!

Could someone please try and upload a vid for Blast Chamber?

Here's a video for those that have never seen or heard of it before:

Blast Chamber was a riot. I had it on Saturn, played it to death. Not even sure if it was a decent version or not, but then again, I was younger and less discerning...

Wow things are slowing down lately. Hopefully we can pick up the GP2X community with GBAX entries. For my part, I made a public beta 5 of my latest build. It should grab some much needed attention. Please read the post for it in the GP2X News section of the forum. I'd like to get a collection of well performing games collected for a launch of upcoming versions.

Hopefully this will get some attention of those who have a GP2X but have not yet tried psx4gp2x. :)

............

PSX4GP2X Public Beta 5 released using build 071307 available. Available directly here: http://www.zodttd.com/psx4all/psx4gp2x_071307.zip

From the readme.txt:

Installation:
- You should have an unzipped psx4gp2x directory where this readme.txt is located.
1. Copy the REQUIRED (not included) psx BIOS file scph1001.bin to the same directory that psx4gp2x’s gpe file is located (./psxgp2x)
2. Copy your ISO/BIN files and/or PocketISO 2.0+ compressed Z/TABLE files over to a directory such as the roms directory in ./psxgp2x
3. Copy the ./psx4gp2x directory to your GP2X storage media
4. Run psx4gp2x_[build_date].gpe

Controls:
GP2X - PSX
STICK - THUMB PAD
A/B/X/Y - CORRESPONDING CIRCLE/SQUARE/TRIANGLE/X BUTTONS
L TRIGGER - L1
R TRIGGER - R1
L TRIGGER+PUSH - L2
R TRIGGER+PUSH - R2

SELECT - SELECT
GP2X SPECIFIC——————-PSX4GP2X
VOLUME MIDDLE - IN-GAME MENU
L TRIGGER+VOL-DOWN - PSX CYCLE DOWN
L TRIGGER+VOL-UP - PSX CYCLE UP
R TRIGGER+VOL-DOWN - PSX CLOCK DOWN
R TRIGGER+VOL-UP - PSX CLOCK UP

Tips for getting maximum performance:
- Using interlace 1+ setting gives more performance at the cost of blockier looking graphics from upscaling
- Turning sound off may give a slight performance increase
- Use your best overclock and use ram timings on if possible
- Be sure to find the best (working) PSX CLOCK setting. Usually a lower PSX CLOCK setting that keeps VSync less than 130 while keeping the highest framerate (FPS) is recommended.
- If you feel like tweaking timings more, change PSX CYCLE from 2 to a different value first. BUT IN ORDER FOR THIS OPTION TO BE RECOGINZED, YOU MUST RELOAD THE GAME FROM THE INGAME LOADGAME OPTION EACH TIME YOU WANT IT SET TO THE NEW VALUE!
- Once the PSX CYCLE has been successfully changed, edit the PSX CLOCK timings. Usually PSX CYCLE 1 to 4, maybe 5, is best.

Tips for compatibility with games that freeze or won’t load:
- Change the PSX CYCLE to 1 and change PSX CLOCK to a number between 80 and 104. Do this as soon as the game inits/loads up and then RELOAD THE GAME FROM THE INGAME MENU with these new settings in place.

Cool, new release to play with :)

Saving and loading savestates works for testing cycle settings, I personally do it that way for every game... the only problem I suffered was with the scaling, but it works for testing the best cycle

And some games still can use a cpu speed below 80%! I think Oddworld 2 (not sure about thie one) and some other games liked a CPU speed around 30/40%

Saw the Viewpoint video, and so far, wow! Very impressive! The others sound like they should be good as well. Great work!

Viewpoint looks very playable.

Wow! up to 20fps in game vagrant story!! That's really 12-20 for walking around and stuff. I set the psx clock to 100% and cycle to 1, interlace 1, sound off. This gets the most fps, really flying it... Gp2x at 266mhz + ram tweaks. I should try it with sound - though there's no voicing in this game, so I feel its expendable, especially going about portable, I can't be bothered untangling my headphones except for music.

I found setting the psx clock to 130% though made the game speed up a little, while only losing a few fps, making it a bit more playable IMO.

Regrettably memory cards still aren't working... though it is a bit weird. In Worms Armageddon I was able to save the options to the memory card - and load them up again. But after exiting the emulator and going back in it complained the card wasn't formatted. Perhaps there's something funny about the memory card 'mounting' process...

Worms Armageddon is absolutely playable now, by tweaking I can get it running at about 20fps, sometimes going higher, with sound and no interlace! Great work Zodttd!
