My test @ 290mhz w/ram timings:
I ran FF8 (bin/cue). I'll be the first to congradulate you that the FMV sequences are now full speed w/out sound at even 0 interlace! Astonishing. After the first intro, things bog down a lot and stay that way until you leave Quistis' classroom (the part where you bump into Selphie) and from that point on, it is mostly full speed w/out sound, save for when you have too many people on screen at once, in which case it slows down a little bit. For some odd reason, once you leave Balamb Garden, the game kinda freezes. I mean you can still open up the menu, or select whether you want rumble or not (by pressing start), but you are unable to move Squall on the world map. This happened on an earlier build because one underclocks the psx cpu too much, but I've tried going all the way to 200mhz on the psx cpu and it doesn't resolve the problem. Needless to say, I was unable to check framerates during battle, or see if the no menu bug in battle was still occuring.
As for sound, the first time I tried the game, I got sound everywhere except during the FMV sequences, but it sounded MUCH better than the builds released a few months ago (although still far from perfect). On every attempt to run this game since then, I cannot get sound period. The only thing that happens is that the FPS goes down...
BTW: The memory cards still don't work with this game. Also, save states seem kinda hit or miss in this build; my first save state wouldn't let me reload it. After rebooting the GP2x and trying to make a new save state somewhere else, it works fine. Odd.
To Zodttd: You are my hero!
Edit: Just saw your update on memcards, will try it out soon. Also, I find it very odd that underclocking the psx cpu has a very bad effect on performance, and that overclocking the psx cpu doesn't seem to change performance any. Also, I haven't tried any of the psx cycle changing as I don't what to keep starting from the beginning as save states are unreliable right now.
