All I know is that I couldn't be happier with a handheld. I have a Nintendo DS, and love my Mario Kart and Castlevania, but truth be told I look forward every moment to a new release here. I don't even so much care what it is, I just like to test out the newest stuff. As far as the "problems" go with the GP2X, maybe I got lucky with mine but I have very few if any problems. My headphone jack is fine, my unit patched with 1.0.1 just fine and I've had very little problem getting things to run on it, including the Mame Williams and Mame Pac-Man sets. I have a small issue with the weird light/dark lines in my screen but from what I've read the cpu speed tweek will take care of that, though I haven't had to play with that yet. Soon. Soon.
I love my Gp2X! Still, I would say, if you are not willing to put some effort into trying new things and making things run, you shouldn't order one. If you just want to sit back and play games get a DS. If you want to be part of a phenomonally quickly growing community of homebrew software and emulation get a GP2X with NO delay. It rocks hard friggin' core!
