aptX has a few different codecs, one of which is entirely lossless. You can connect an oscilloscope directly to the output of a stereo, and then do the same with a bluetooth transceiver with the aptX lossless decoder, and the scopes will literally have the exact same waveforms, with a resolution of 96Khz.

If you still insist you can hear a difference then it is either the exact same psychology that tells some people that expensive cables sound better, or at least that you're using two different speakers to do the comparison and it is in fact the speakers that are causing the difference, or you're using one of the other two codecs and complaining that your orange doesn't taste like an apple.
 
... or there's enough radio interference in your area that you just can't get as clean a bluetooth signal as they did in the lab when they ran the testing...

I used to regularly use a bluetooth connection to my phone to access the internet while travelling on the train.   I discovered that I was unable to maintain a consistent bluetooth connection to the phone while I was waiting on the platform at Murrumbeena station, the netbook showed a low bluetooth signal strength and the connection itself kept dropping out.  (and the phone and the netbook were less than a foot away from each other with nothing in between them to block the signal)

While it may be possible to get flawless audio from a bluetooth connection in ideal conditions, real world environmental conditions may not always allow it.

I just watched the kickstarter video and it's clearly mentioned, that it's made from short carbon fibers, which is usually used to make spattling compount. They put it in the PLA, I mostly put it into resin (epoxy) when laminating things (like bicycle frames, or surfboards).

So normally these parts are designed to make use of the direction of the fiber. Most likely the short fibers a of a length from 0.1 to 0.4 mm. The material gets less brittle by that, but nothing compared to a embedded fiber that is one part from one end to the other of you construction and lies in the direction of the force, that impacts the part.

So better that other 3D material, most likely even better than the standard "resin-only" case too, but still a large gap to a real fiber compount part.

BTW: Perhaps it's an idea to start an extra thread for the carbon fiber case?

Ok, if you're in an area where there is so much radio interference that you just can't maintain a signal then I will concede the point, but if it required pristine lab environments to maintain a 50% signal quality then not only bluetooth but all forms of wifi would have been deemed completely useless. Most people do not live in an area where their data connections are forcibly cutout by EM noise.

Except for when it isnt and it goes into hybrid mode. Does this not happen on bluetooth 4.0, or a similar use-case that could be achieved?
 
Hybrid mode isn't automatic, from my understanding it needs to be optionally activated, and even then it only activates on rare, brief (sub-second) occasions when the bandwidth is insufficient for the full lossless encoding. If you don't want it, don't use it. The BT4.0 spec should have more than enough bandwidth to handle it without reducing the quality.
 
Can whe get this time more "Zubehör"?? I mean i wanted a Silikon Case for my Pandora one etc..

Seems like i have to order 2 second 32 gb SD Card for the Pandora 2. .
 
I would like blue tooth sound, even if it not perfect, for playing mario kart in the bus without a cable, it is fine :) .

I thought blocking of radio signals would be a bigger problem than static...
 
Different metals have different effects on different em radiation frequencies . For example , a microwave will shield microwaves very effectively , otherwise you'd be fried , now put your mobile phone in it and close the door, call it, it will ring, I've done it.


In the case of aluminium , there are enough products on the market, MacBook, iPad, iPhone etc that don't have any issues to warrant at least looking into the possibility of using a aluminum case . Personally on something that small, I don't think it's going to add any significant amount of weight. The cost will be the one to look at, but it's worth investigating IMO . If it were up to $15 more , I'd still prefer it, but that's just my opinion.

Why aluminium if carbon fiber reinforced plastic can be even stronger and lighter?

I don't really see the advantage of aluminium, other than being better than regular plastic.
 
That doesn't explain why mobile phones work inside a microwave though - 2G phones run at frequencies below that of microwaves, so have an even longer wavelength.


Anyway, on topic, I'm still happy with plastic if it's a little less chunky, and doesn't scratch or crack like the Pandora case can. Fancy materials might be cool, even at an increased cost, but it's what's inside that matters far more as far as I'm concerned.

Not necessarily. It could be as well that whatever instruments you have to measure the quality of the sound do not account for the overall quality but only some aspects of it. I agree there's some psychological component to it if you do an unblinded test, but if you blind people, ask them to rate what sound is better from 2 different sources... and if they spot a difference, it means that your tests don't cover everything. And I don't mean a 5 minutes test of something.

After some googling, it's a "quarter-wavelength resonant choke structure" on the door that only effectively blocks some wavelengths. The cell phone signal leaks through the door. Some earlier microwave ovens used full faraday cages, but they stopped using those because dirty contacts caused the microwaves to leak out.

On topic: The fiber-reinforced plastic sounds good. I'd probably prefer it to aluminium, too.

Very good. I got too whistles made out of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer.

They feel and sound beautiful and are light weight although you could batter someone with the Low-D whistle without damaging it at all. ;)
