So where will all forum member can meet so we can play this dice game? :)

Shouldn't we wait until we know the answer from Qualcom?

If we won't get any Snapdragon or they are not suitable for our needs then the z7730 is worth to think of.

If we can get the Snapdragon 805 then for me it's clear which possessor to take.

So you think if the Snapdragon 805 possesses you it'll take better care of your body?

ok, so I didn't want x86, but after seeing the actual gaming performance on that venue 8, I really want it now. That or I want the venue 8, I haven't decided
thanks, great tip! You can play Borderlands 2! nice ; D

So, who said that you can't paly x86 games anyway, because they are soooo damanding?
Show me it running that well in Linux with wine..
No real reason it wouldn't.

I shouldn't use auto correction without checking the outcome ;) .

Should be processor.

But anyways, I think 805 is better than Bay Trail.

Run yes, playable speed I'm not too sure.. even with my high end gaming desktop it's a bit choppy through wine.

I think x86 could be a good idea for a successor to the Pyra, if it turns out that Intel really puts its weight behind low-power SoCs and consistently and verifiably beats ARM SoCs in terms of perf and perf/W.

I think it would not be wise to jump on this train now. It's better to be a bit conservative than to learn the hard way that power consumption and performance claims were overly optimistic or that Intel changes its prices dramatically once it gets a foothold in this new terrain for them, or something like that.

I don't think this community would necessarily disintegrate when we switch to x86. But I do think that there would be a significant pressure to somehow get Windows and Windows games to work on the device, legaly or illegaly. There would probably be lots of people coming to the boards with questions like "where can I find a torrent for the cracked Windows?" and "help! <insert Windows game name> does not work! please make it work NOW!". If that happens, I'll have to resign as a mod since I don't feel like modding that mess.

If it is up for debate i vote for the platform that most develpers want as i would rather have a useful device instead of one that i can put a sticker on that says "Intel inside".  I persoanaly love Intel, Arm, and AMD and am a fanboy of all 3.  I chose Intel on my chromebook over arm as the software center all works in Chrubuntu already.  I Chose Arm on my phone because I like Android.  I chose AMD on my desktop and HTPC as is cheaper processing power per dollar and built in GPU are still superior as new Intel still have trouble with 1080p.

All the cpus have enough power for everything we would do for this device for everything I would do.  Unless you are going to plug in a usb drive and rip movies or try and edit photos or movies on the 5" screen.  I think the real decision is gpu power (expecialy with open source drivers) and low power usage with most empasis on power usage.   AMD, Intel, and Nvidia have made recent commitments to linux thanks to Steam and all have proprietary drivers and I have read AMD actuall helps with the open source drivers and Nvidia has recently started helping on opensource drivers.

I am curious why most only want Intel if you go the x86 route.  I have built many HTPC and intel has yet to produce a graphics chip that can play true 1080p with built in graphics even with their proprietary driver.  The new AMD has a built in hardware Audio which has been a serious problem since they removed them and they tax the heck out of the cpu.  At CES Intel's demo's were all powered by Arm cpu's as their new chips were not ready (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2429647,00.asp)

Here is a 6 month old Power Comsumpion Shootout

Comparison at  CPUBoss show power and power consumption

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Celeron-1047UE-vs-AMD-A6-1450

That is my 2cents anyway and I am going to buy one no mater the outcome as i see it is a win/win more cenario.

The Snapdragon 805 sounds really nice. I wouldn't buy it if it uses a x86 soc honestly. Would be just another netbook then.

Edit: Also there would be enought graphics power to use the 1080p display with an otion to connect our fancy new ultrahd displays in some years :)

The perfect reason not to use x86 on an opensource device...

I know this is off topic but cpu relates to battery life so is it possilbe to get a small built in battery (5-10 min of life) and then a removable battery.  This way i could swap out battery without turning off and keep 1 or 2 batteries charging at all times.  Might need a switch in the battery compartment to switch over before removal but I would love this is this could become an option.

The Snapdragon 805 is announced in Q2/2014, so that would throw us back about 6 - 8 months... not feasable, I think.

Aren't the first /products/ announced for Q2? Wouldn't that mean that producers can already get the chip?
