So How Long Are We Going To Have To Wait For A Fullspeed Nds Emu?

Not to defend somebody I don't know; don't start flaming. There are more games probably about that much if not more ds homebrew that comes in the form of ROM s. That doesn't even include the thousands of GBA homebrew ROM s that are available. Not to say he's not "ridin' dirty" but just because somebody says they have this many ROM s doesn't make them a pirate.

Why would anyone want to pay £200 to emulate a £100 device?
using this logic, there isnt one prospective system that Pandora should be allowed to emulate. as the Pandora is more expensive than every single system that is planned to be emulated.

even if it was able to emulate a 360, that would barely make it cost effective *roll eyes*

I tried writing a DS emulator for the PSP half a year ago, its still only able to play a few demos (and very slow), but I might improve and port it to pandora once I get one.

have you got any screen shots?

Well, the 360 is actually cheaper than the Pandora, and next month the "Arcade" version (the one with no hard drive) is rumored to drop to $199. That's before the Pandora is released (since they said they'd take pre-orders 4 weeks before launch, and they aren't taking pre-orders yet).

The difference is:

The DS is portable, the 360 is not.
The DS is readily available to most people (at least most people who would be able to order a Pandora) - some of the older systems that the Pandora will likely emulate are not.
The DS is easily modified to play ROMs (just buy a $20 - $50 card, [before Nintendo sues them all out of existance] and download the ROMs) no programming, soldering, or opening of the case required. In fact, you're not actually "modifying" the console at all. It's all in the game pack itself.
The DS has a unique form and function that is not easily compatible with anything else - even something as well designed and flexible as the Pandora. (Although the Pandora is really the only device that is even close to being able to emulate the DS).
(Related to the form) there are games that require odd addons that no non-DS system will be able to use. Like I already mentioned in this thread.

It may end up like the SNES emulator for the GBA. It may exist, and it may work. But there are a lot of compromises that will have to be made, and some games will just never work.

I'd consider eBay readily available. Most of the systems that everyone is getting hot and bothered over are all systems that'd be readily available on eBay.

And the emulator author would implement them the same way that they do for other systems that have peripherals. The rumble pack could be implemented via a screenshake. The Guitar Hero attachment could show up on the touchscreen, or use buttons on the keyboard. (And frankly, if anyone wants to use DS emulation just for Guitar Hero DS, I will strangle them) Maybe you could enlighten me as to what these other addons are that the DS has that we can't emulate, because I have 2 DSes, and don't know of any attachments for games other than the two I just mentioned.

Right off the top of my head, I know of two, and I may well be forgetting some. :p

1: The slide attachment for Mag Kid.
2: The magnetic-field sensor for the two versions of Gaust Diver.

There is a paddle controller as well. Check out wikipedia

You of course know of the RAM pack, but you implied it is not for games, however, Quake 2 for DS requires 16 MB of added RAM, and quake 2 is a game. [/technicality]

7: Face Training's Camera...

Just to pop in and correct Chad... You say multiple times that Nintendo is suing the DS flashcart (Used for ROMs). I know that the news sites have put a big spin on this story, but look at the facts: Nintendo has sued 5 DISTRIBUTORS of flashcarts, not the makers of them. Furthermore, all these stores they are suing are based in japan. Unlike the US, Japan has actual brick and mortar stores carrying these, which they want to stop. In contrast, most people who own a DS in the US have no idea what a flashcart is! Nintendo just wants to stop it as much as they can, but until they actually crack down on the makers of the cards, we are all safe. YAARHHGG!

RAM is something that you would have no trouble adding. I thought that was a no-brainer... -_-'

Not numbered to match the numbers:
1) There was a Boktai for the DS?
2) I already addressed the Guitar Hero Attachment.
3) I don't remember getting a Megaman Star Force Wave Scanner with my Megaman Star Force Game
4) A nob can be emulated with a USB paddle controller or possibly the analog nubs
5) USB and/or SDIO camera

Anything else you want to throw at me?

Yes - Lunar Knights or Boktai DS.QUOTE
2) I already addressed the Guitar Hero Attachment.
So because you don't like it means it doesn't count? Oh and you're going to somehow hack the closed source emulated game to accept touch screen input. Which, the game already requires touch screen input, so that's out anyway.QUOTE

It was an optional enhancement.

I never said that all the attachments were required. I said either needed or were enhanced by these attachments.

We're getting way too detailed about this. The point is - playing games on their original system is better. This is not always the case, but with the uniqueness of the Nintendo DS - it is the case. Does that mean a DS emu is a bad idea? No, and I've already said as much. You just want to argue, and I'm done arguing. If someone wants to build a DS emu - more power to them, and I'll definitely give it a shot. But I'm happy with my DS Lite, and I won't be getting rid of it any time soon.

First of all, congrats on your double post. Wasting space TOTALLY earns you respect.

Second: No, instead of trying to hack the game, I would suggest the emulator use the Pandora's TOUCH SCREEN to display the buttons that the attachment gave. Or, the other possibility (which I also suggested) is to use the damn keyboard.

Glad to see you read my post earlier

Sorry, I'm a little slow to respond here...

I'm afraid I don't have a pic of the Gaust Diver gizmo, because it's a fairly obscure title (it's based on the Treasure Gaust LCD games, which feature the same sort of functionality, for whatever it's worth - these have now been released in English a couple of years later as "Catcha Beast"), and I've never seen one in person. Sorry about that one.

As for Mag Kid, it's visible on the box-art ( http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-9g-49-en-70-21px.html ). It works somewhat like an optical mouse.
