it'd be trivial to put a zenity picker up front to let you select a clockrate (say), or built it into the emu (the pandora libs include functions for setting it, etc.)

I'm sure one of dozens of people will pick up SNES; if no one does, I'll adopt it ;) But I've got a lot of other things on the go, prefer someone else to do that. (Don't you just love that half my pet things are things no one else cares about? Text adventures, Atari ST, turn baswed slow paced games, you'd jjust all love if I was into PSX and SNES, but alas, I am not :)

Well, you made a greate Atari st emulator for the GP32 (never bought an gp2x) so I think your "half pet" things are verry appreciated (had to google how to spell appreciated :p) but I guess more people grew up with the snes so thats probably why you get more questions about that right now.

I my self never had one, grew up with Commodore 64 and Amiga.

It seems like it would be possible to support small-scale development of open-source via donations (large scale foundations of course already manage just fine, but they frequently make stuff that's widely used on a commercial scale), but you'd need a few things.

First, a Github-like interface on the code hosting where even novice folks could see how much each developer contributed to the project, when, and even which features each developer was responsible for (yay commit comments). Each developer lists a public email that can be used for Paypal.

That would be enough for give-away-and-pray models, but if you wanted to do bounties, you'd need some kind of brokerage to whom donors could give the money and that could arbitrate whether the feature or change was in. It's hard to depend on people's pre-committing of money ("I'd totally pay 20 dollars for fullspeed Mario 64!") or work ("Yeah, if I got $100, I could totally knock that feature out in a week!"). If it were possible, it'd be great to put the money somewhere safe, with a big earmark on it saying WHOSOEVER CAN PULL THIS PERFORMANCE BENCHMARK FROM THIS HARDWARE AND PLATFORM SHALL BE CROWNED KING.

Or...for MIT or other non-GPL licenses that would permit it, you could always write a patch that enables whatever-feature-you-think-they-want, convince people you had it, then start a Kickstarter page letting people donate to get you to release it. The first person to do this, I will give at least 5 money-units to, partially in admiration for their bravery, and partially in pity for the shit storm they'd doubtlessly unleash. History is made by reviled pioneers!

@all paypalers: You can support me too ... just because i worked several month on my Snes9x4D Emulator. Added all special chips like Fx1, Fx2, OBC1, SH1, DSP2, DSP3, DSP4 aso. Sadly i only have a Dingoo and no Pandora or Wiz.

skeezix: Could you send me your patches as i noted in the readme, i can add it to the code repository. Only one repository for one snes emulator would be more usefull. I can also add you as developer, that you can submit code. You can also benefit from this, just because i'm further enhancing my emulator.

So let me get this right, he only mentioned if people want to donate they can, and you have a problem with that?
Considering people always offer to donate I don't get why your giving him attitude.
Or is it because he may do most of the work but didn't do the quick port (days worth)?
I'm grateful to him and skeezix, especially as he's actively developing it.

Sorry if someone else responded, flaky net connection sighhhh....

In Mithrildor's defense, the way that SiENcE worded it was not the greatest. When I first read it, I thought "what a jackass". It wasn't until after I saw you guys being so critical of Mithrildor that I went back and read it again and understood what SiENcE actually meant.

@God Ginrai: english is not my nativ lang.

We should get to topic. I think everything is clear.

Just for explanation. Snes9x4D is the only SDL port i know of Snes9x. I made this for porting it easily to different handhelds. But i need support from other devs. I can only test on dingoo. And i need the patches for other handhelds, just like the pandora one!

Currently i'm adding StarFox2 support.
Also Doom, Stunt Race FX, Vortex, Dirt Racer FX dont work really good.

It wasn't until after I saw people being critical of Mithrildor that I thought he might have been joking and folks may be coming down on him slightly too hard.

That`s why i asked him to make sure he reads peoples posts properly in future, Before being unjustifiably rude.

I think SiENcE should be on the list for a free Pandora ,what do you guys think ?

Or at least a dev pandora from the scattered remains after the first 1000 or 4000.

Ah no please.

Currently i'm busy porting/enhancing gnuboy to dingux.

I buy one if they are available after the first shipment. I only need support from a Pandora dev. who wants to maintain a snes9x4d port.

Welcome to the forums SiENcE. I think it'd be great if we can support your work in some way. Thanks again to Skeezix for the initial port. If you can both work together on this I think that's a great situation for us users. Thank you for both of your work.

Edit: Thanks God Ginrai. Sience, it looks like you're now number two on my list of people from the forum who I've got their handles wrong. Isn't that right Faith.

Welcome to the forums Silence.

This is what happens when you don't try to match a user's name case-sensitive. There is no "L" in his name.

He might be a good candidate for Dev fund indeed :)

sience -- certainly I will post patches; they also should -not- fold back in as they really are crap 1 hour hacks just to get some monkeys off my back ;) still perhaps I should clean them a bit to get pandora officially built in, then maybe you or someone or myself can carry it

it's a bit busy right now with the launch and ive not been home for days hardly, but we'll see how things settle. I've got way too much on the go to adopt snes, but such a great platform ;)

sience - should rename to Snes4all and make a go of it - for old anes9x base, yours is the most easily ported, being sdl and pretty well encapsulated

more later when I'm not on he phone ;)

I've been basicly away for the last few days; heres a quick post of the modified cpp files for snes9x4d4p --

WARNING: EXCEEDINGLY LAME is not saying how poor a hack it is ;)

http://www.codejedi.com/pandora/snes9x4d4p/patch/

This is .. take anes9x4d about a month ago, applied random fixes; then pull snes9x4d wed or thursday, apply the same changes even though the underliing code has changed, and _still works_; wrap it up in pnd-file and call it a day.

*shameful* but what the hell, an hours work and it runs, so ought to make a lot of people happy :)

sience -- don't think lesser for me ;) If no one jumps up to mae a serious snes emu in a few days, I'll make up some useful changes for you and patch in. For now, I would ignore the above files (except perhaps the keymapping bit, you could fold that in using an ifdef or perhaps at button assignment and I could just package a default working conf file.)

Anyway, just got back near a PC so lots ot catch up on the last few days :)

Is there any way we can have options for adjustable sound quality (as it is curently poor) and an option for turning frameskipping off (as it currently has options for fs 1-9 and auto only)
