Psx4gp2x Public Beta 2 Released.

I got the dynarec working to the point it get's past the BIOS and into games!
I don't want to dig myself into a hole, but here's my first impressions of the dynarec working is that the estimate of 2 times as fast seems about right. Even though I've only really been looking at 2D menu's at this point, the VSyncRate is at 100+, and the framerate is around 40-70 FPS average. Remember that the VSyncRate is how many potential frames could have been shown, and the FPS shows how many unique frames there were and subsequently got blitted. So VSyncRate gives a better picture of performance imho.

It seems about twice as fast.

I'll give a better update after some rest and progression of the dynarec. There's A LOT more optimizations to do to it as well, besides getting it working smoothly. :)

a lot of people told us that emulation of a psx isn´t possible on a gp2x on decent speed. now we are a step away from a release that make a lot of games (3d-games too) playable.
thanks zodttd, great news! :)

Soo, next up, framelimiter. :p

:D will be necessary on the next but one release to preserve playable framerates!
maybe a "virtual dolby surround effect sound plugin" could throttle too, iff stereo is not enough debit.

well, if it should ever get to fast im sure antialiasing would be a good way to slow it down :)

hahaha. Of course, I personally would prefer to slow it down with sound as opposed to anti-aliasing.

Hey, that's what the hardware-scaler is for, hey?

Wow, 2x increase doesn't sound much, but it's a lot with the initial dynarec version I reckon :)
If we're likely to be getting double the framerates in all/most games, that's an amazing improvement.
Well done zodttd, (and unai & tinnus & anyone else involved :) )

whipeout is playable at offered 11fps. x2 would be approximately 20frames!!!! That sounds much!!!
Most of 3d-games will be playable with the expected speed increase like whipeout as yet. ;)

2x speed increase on the first revision is fantastic! Still hoping for a bit more, but 2x would basically mean a lot of the 2D games feel full speed (though by no means all).

Think I'm using Threads of Fate as my benchmark for 3D, so I'll be interested in how that runs when the next beta comes out!

I've noticed some compatibility issues with Threads of Fate. It will randomly freeze (not an overclocking issue) and one time the character just got stuck walking in place during a cutscene.

Am I alone on this? Maybe I should rip it again...

isnt threads of fate a little weak to use for 3D

Why would it be when the entire game is in 3D?

I think there should be some kinda of special Title or group or seomthing for zottd and all who made this emulator. Especially zottd. I could neever do what you are doing. From the supposed difficulty level for doing what you do, you are a machine...and extremely hard working. Thank you.

Now im going to sleep...

check your rip with psxseven and you'll know if you have to redo it or not ;)
