Just use the correct bios file, which is the scph1001.bin. It's easy enough to find online...

if you have got only a 1007file, rename should work. no need for shady actions

edit: :D problems more often caused by downloaded files (in various cases)

Nr.56, I understand that you are just trying to help, but I do not need to rename the bios file.

When I wrote up my initial issue, I had been up till early o'clock in the morning trying to get some gp2x stuff figured out and was so tired that I didn't care that much if all the file names were exact. I do my fair share of emulation on my computer and have a decent understanding of file names and junk.

thanks a ton though for helpin me out. now that I have snes saves figured out, I can play more than sonic and golden axe without frustration.

even at a low speed, and potential for crashes, FFVII in my own two hands still sounds very interesting; and with all you beta testers and the developers working so hard, I figure that things can only get more promising.

!!! do not buy alienware PCs!!!! They are overpriced and they don't actualy do anything special. get yourself a nice set of parts from newegg and enjoy putting your own PC together. It will be cheaper, and when you decide its time to get more ram/more drives/ a different processor, motherboard, or powersuply, you will already know your computera insides so you can just pick up the piece and plop it in. Mainstream "hardcore" Pc... its an oxymoron and its overpriced.

Sorry for the rant. I know its off topic. anybody tried jade cacoon on this emulator?

oh, and there was this really cool FFtactics style strategy game for PSX where your characters were playing cards but the moved around the field and when they got into a fight it would have these sweet animations of each atack happening fullscreen anime style... anybody know what that was? it reminds me of fire emblem...

Now i go and meditate in preperation for the people who will try and kill me for being off topic most of this post.

What I had in mind -> incompatible downloaded isos. ;-)
i tested a 7502-bios unrenamed and the emulator started the hle emulation wich is not really compatible.
epsxe is able to start all bios files. psx4gp2x accept not all bios names.
i think you have tried it yet and i can not help. sorry!

Yes you need. The emulator ONLY recognizes a BIOS called scph1001.bin. It could be actually 1007, but it *must be called* scph1001.bin for the emulator to read it.

once again, I am sorry for being unclear. I do not have a 1007 bio, I have the correct scph1001.bin file. This has turned into too big a deal. I meerly at the time was trying to think of the name of the file from what I could remember without having to search through my psx emulation files to be exact. Renaming is most definately Not the problem.

also, I just tryed putting a different ISO on my SD card. It's called "Destruction Derby-NTSC.ISO". The psx4all menu recognizes the file and loads it, but once it is done loading, I sit at a black screen. How long do these guys usually take to load? or am I doing something else wrong?

Also, to the building a computer guy. I am buying an alienware LAPTOP... not a tower. I would love to have a customized tower PC, in fact my nirghbor, an old asian dude named hwang, said that I'd probably be smart enough and that it would be a good idea. Unfortunately, a tower PC does not fulfill my needs from a computer, and building one is also expensive. Furthermore, I am not buying alienware because I need a fancy gaming computer that costs 8 billion dollars; I will be spending all of 1200 dollars on a computer about the same speed and cpabilities as dell inspiron I currently own. The reason I don't buy another dell, is because of how flimsy they are. I have brocken two 70 dollar dell power cords and busted up the chasis pretty good, now I want to upgrade to a computer that I won't have to pour money into power cords for! LOL.

sorry to rant

Destruction Derby doesn´t run at time.
sometimes there is an easy answer. :p

wipeout: Sort of. Unai helped with a tip that it might be related to the translation cache.

I decided to check the translation cache (caching of blocks of code already translated to ARM), and even though Unai didn't even see the code, he magically guessed it right. :)

The caching system is flawed. Not sure how it's flawed yet, but if I disable caching, the recompiler works in it's current state. By taking a tip from Tinnus I commented out the recompiled OPcodes except the branches. So it's currently a "C Dynarec" and without caching at that! So next step is to either put in the recompiled functions and see if they all work, or fix the cache system. Both need to be done to see the speed increase that this dynarec will give.

At least this really weird bug has finally been sorted out. This will allow progress to be made on the dynarec and should go quickly. :)

Good news zodttd...!

Wow good guess Unai, you really came through. Thanks for the update too Zodttd :)

Oh yea and I'm employed again! so hopefully I can start donating to some of my favorite projects (kinda like psx4all) again in the near future :D

Brilliant news as ever... I'm really *really* looking forward to seeing what the dynarec does for psx4GP2x. It'll be an impressive release, methinks. Or not - never guess the future, as ever.

Still, great to hear the technical problems are now sorted.

On a side-note, I showed the most recent release to a friend of mine running Threads of Fate (too slow to play, but fast enough to be impressive), and his jaw dropped.

VampireHunter
OC 275
best Quality (interlacing 0; progressive off)

in the beginning the game runs on a very playable framrate of 15-17 fpm :D
the performance collapsing in the castle (nearly 7 frames remain) because (maybe) reflections on the ground.
the game looks nice, no graphical bugs.
