Psx4gp2x Dynarec Status Update

I just managed to rip my Spider-Man (Pal). It's the only one of my games that worked after I ripped em.

It was surprisingly faster than I expected, especially the in-game cutscene, but the FPS display was mucked so I couldn't read it. I underclocked the PSX to 25% and had the 2X at 266Mhz.
Many textures weren't displaying correctly though.

Now for a question.

Is there a button combination to simulate the "R2" button?

Cause I would really like to web sling to the next building :) .
If any1 is interested I might try and make a video later.

Moxie- I got this from the cdrdao

javaguy@javaguy-desktop:~$ cdrdao scanbus
Cdrdao version 1.2.1 - © Andreas Mueller <andreas@daneb.de>
SCSI interface library - © Joerg Schilling
Paranoia DAE library - © Monty

Check http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/drives.html#dt for current driver tables.

Error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively (Device or resource busy)... retrying in 1 second.

I think there was an error trying to open /dev/scd0 :p

You don't happen to have any automatic stuff that starts up when you insert a CD? Such as a cd-player-program starting or K3b or something like that? Make sure that any and all other programs that might try to use that device is closed. That includes file manager windows (i.e. if you have a window showing the contents of the disc, close it).

Also, as I said above, sometimes it is very helpful in these cases to be root :)

How are you clocking? I can't tell from the video.

Make sure to have the FPS meter on to see your improvement.

Try lowering the clock until the FPS don't rise any more. Leave it running for a few seconds, then try lower, leave it running and check the FPS again.

Try clocks of about 30% to 50%.

Has anyone tried the Tomb Raider III GameShark hack that lets the game run at 1000% speed? I assume it just disables the CPU wait state and lets it go crazy :).

weird. Still, I expect it is still possible to see any changes in FPS. I am a little worried about Driver 2 as it is pretty good for a PS1 game:

a video made by someone (not me :))
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esjj6ID-0Yc

the graphics seem to be more advanced than in Driver 1... I just couldnt imagine that being emulated... still at the moment I cant even extract a game ISO :)

heh, all the posts have gone to "yesterday" now.

I wish psx games were not so big, sucks up so much SD space.
Sort of, I have 7 games and some video clips and a SonicCD and some genesis roms and 5 GBA roms and I am almost full, I have a 2GB card, but I agree that they could be bigger. Any game that will run well on this should be ~300mb or smaller (unless it is all videos and pre-renders like FF).

Raiden Project, Striker 1945, Ridge Racer, Naruto, Destruction Derby, Tekken 2 and Dead Or Alive.

Pocketiso them, my copy of wipeout became ~20mb.
Some games don't work without videos

How did you manage to get Wipeout working?? It's not working for me if I rip the video (22mb image), but it's working with the video (~55mo)

hooray! more videos MORE! I may end up re-buying all the old PS1 games I used to play, just so I can experience them on GP2X :D
