Psx Running On The Gp2x

I knew about bleem, but the problem is that precisely it can only play some specific games.
That's cool, but a "full" psx emulator should be able to play anything that was originally intented to be played on psx. THAT's would be cool, because one of the greatest emulation aspects is to be able to play some weird, unknown and rare games, that are difficult or impossible to find in their "original" state (or way too expensive, especially when, as me, you enjoyed many of these games only 5 minutes long :D ).

There are no full speed psx emulators running on the Dreamcast. There are only 3 bleem versions that run a specific game each using many hacks to get a good speed (those are Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 2 and Tekken 3).

Anyway good luck to zodttd and the psx emulator!

SEGA made hardware that plays Playstation games on the DC, why do you think Sony sued them? Search for it and just get that man.

There was actually a version of bleemcast that ran a lot of games pretty well and wasnt restricted to a few games. It was never officialy released though but theres a few alpha copies floating round the net

If we tape a dreamcast processor to the back, won't it run bleemcast fullspeed?       B)

I wish ppl would search some more before they give up and say "there is no good emulator for DC"

http://www.dcemu.co.uk/psxindex.php

There is 2 on this list that aren't bleem and one of them is 95% complete (in the authors words).. I don't own a DC, but if the author says it is almost complete.. then it must have a high compatablilty level.

Anyways... go to dcemu.co.uk... this is a GP2X forum and as such, should contain GP2X related information.

stooge, I have a dreamcast, those homebrew psx emulators only work at 5-15 fps. A new emulator needs to built from scratch for them to be even reasonably good.

From wikipedia:

BleemCast! is a bootloader by Bleem! for Sega Dreamcast that allows one to load and play PlayStation discs on the Dreamcast. It is compatible with most Dreamcast controllers and steering wheels, and enhances the PSX game.

Originally, Bleem! was planning to have the disc able to run any Playstation game on the Dreamcast, but due to technical difficulties, they made the idea of the "Bleempak", in which the software would boot only 100 specific games each. New Bleempaks would have to be purchased if one game was not available to boot in a Bleempak. Due to the Dreamcast controller's fewer buttons compared to the Playstation, there were plans to release a Bleem controller (somewhat similarly designed to the Playstation controller) and a PSX-to-Dreamcast controller adapter (which would allow one to use a Playstation controller on the Dreamcast). As technical difficulties grew further, all these ideas were scratched, with no "Bleempak" and no hardware releases.

However, they managed to release individual Bleemcast! bootdiscs for three popular games, Gran Turismo 2, Tekken 3, and Metal Gear Solid (Box Scan). As promised from the beginning, the games ran in a 640x480 resolution, as opposed to the PSX's and even PlayStation 2's run on PSX games' 320x240 resolution, and featured anti-aliasing and bilinear filtering. This drastically improved the games' graphics by much, but also bought out some graphical imperfections that were originally hidden in the lower resolution.

A single Bleem!-dedicated VMU is required to save any Bleem! games.

Eventually, after repeated lawsuits, Sony was finally able to shut down Bleem! in 2001, the same year Sega announced that they would discontinue the Dreamcast. Bleem! closed their website with only an image on their frontpage of Sonic the Hedgehog tearfully holding a flower to a Bleem! gravestone.

Sega in no way shape or form, developed or endorsed Bleem.. there are lots of emulators for the Dreamcast. Doesn't mean Sega authorized any of them-- in fact Sega added the inability for the Revision 2 Dreamcast toward the end of the system's lifespan to read CD-R's to prevent running unofficial discs. Also, Bleem is software, not hardware. Who would buy HARDWARE to run PSX games on a Dreamcast when a real PSX costs 3 cents nowadays anyway?
