And that would be? A celebration of the invasion of Britain by the Norse in the 11th century?andmaz said:We really should celebrate thanksgiving in the UK never understood why we didn't

OMAP3430 seems to have a DSP C64X. But still it isn't a C54x so i cannot be sure if free C and C++ C54X compilers can be useful here. Only Craig can tell us if the dev team has a similar C and C++ C64X compilers, I guess.Exophase said:Don't see how it could be, OMAP2430 has the DSP in addition to IVA2. It's probably not programmable, much less a DSP.

Who was offended? he just pointed out that a lot of us dont celebrate it
OT: so is there any any educated estimates on the weight of this unit? weights more of a problem than size when carrying a portable imo
He pointed it out in a rather rude tone, IMHO.
As for weight, I doubt it's going to be heavy enough to warrant not carrying it.
EDIT: zaffercharles, does that mean you know something we don't? o.o

I was wondering that exact same thing, but I figured Craigix would let us know if he was concerned.zaffercharles said:What I'd like to know is are we meant to keep this donation info secret or are we free to share it on here anyway?
He will soon!God Ginrai said:zaffercharles, does that mean you know something we don't? o.o
open source codecs i guess... OGG for instance ? xvid ? etc.Squidge said:What are people thinking of using the DSP for? (Assuming it's even accessible under linux, which I doubt. Let alone programmable)
Well, presumably if it were easy to transfer electronically, he'd just send it out by email. It's cheaper, and a lot faster.zaffercharles said:What I'd like to know is are we meant to keep this donation info secret or are we free to share it on here anyway?
You're thinking of Sourth Korea. Slightly South-East of Europe and speaking Konglish (and hangeukeo) rather than English.Stealth Bagel said:Well don't shit on our parade then.
I was under the impression the UK (or some english-speaking european nation) had a "Thanksgiving" with some totally different meaning behind it, earlier in November..... maybe that person had no idea what they were talking about.
Well it depends, what can it be programmed to do?Squidge said:What are people thinking of using the DSP for? (Assuming it's even accessible under linux, which I doubt. Let alone programmable)
I don't recall anyone saying whether it was even programmable or not...A_SN said:Well it depends, what can it be programmed to do?

Hey Squidge, just a curious question. Have you gotten your PCB yet?

 lol I imagined someone would say that, no not yet anyway I'm happy to share info when I do, if that's allowed.. but if it's not I wouldn't go as far as turning info down on the basis of fairness I'd just keep quiet about it lolGod Ginrai said:...

The UK has Guy Fawkes' Night, on the 5th November, which really isn't anything like thanksgiving in any respect. Thanksgiving you get everyone together and have a big meal involving a turkey. Guy Fawkes' Night, you build a big bonfire and let off lots of fireworks, most of which would be illegal in the US (or so my current flatmate tells me).
There's not really any similarity between them.
Schools often do have a Harvest Festival in October somewhen, which I always took to be our nearest thanksgiving equivalent in terms of sentiment. Usually involved things like a can collection for the socially disadvantaged or some such. It's rarely celebrated outside of schools though.
