Yes, transmissive LCDs do have better contrast/saturation in indoor conditions, compared to transflective screens. Hitachi has a good write-up on the subject, comparing the different available technologies. In my experience, matte screens do better than glossy screens in outdoor conditions (on notebooks, anyway), but give less saturation and contrast, of course. So by comparison I'll agree a transmissive screen will be fine, I just hope a good balance can be found on the glossiness.
