We can't all afford 8GB SD cards (even though we'd really like to). :p
of course we can :) edit: 8GB SD cards go for € 50,--...i hope you can afford that :)

well as we can expect X11 capability somewhere down the road, a firefox port is not impossible.
a mobile browser with real flash support would be very very nice.

i really like the direction this is going. the only thing missing is bluetooth, like already mentioned.
it would be useful to pair the machine with an UMTS phone for mobile websurfing (we dont have many free wifi hotspots here). hopefully the kernel will include support for USB bluetooth sticks and we will have a bluetooth stack preinstalled? would make things easier :)

And also.. how could you afford to splash out on an expensive piece of kit like the craiginator, but not on a half decent SD card for it? A somewhat logic-defying argument there. Clearly, someone who buys this console is not short of money - if they are, they're either foolish or a GPaddict.

While I agree this would apply to most people, I have to add that some will be saving up, starting now, to have enough for the device and the needed accessories (extra batteries, case, etc.). I have been in that position myself.

13.5 seems a bit crazy since the IGP version is only a few million polygons faster. This is going to be a very powerful beast. (Oh, and with that fillrate, we can expect to make good use of the FSAA hardware. :)
So do those demos apply then? *Prays* :)

It would be nice if the media player of the craiginator had a plugin arquitechture so homebrew developers can create it's own decoders.
Couldn't we port VLC or mplayer and their codecs (without official support, of course)?
Edit: Javacat beat me to that question.

Besides Video Features, what can we expect in the Audio Area? Because I don't like the Audio Quality of the GP2X, for my taste it's very poor and I usualy use good In Ear speakers but with no improvement of the audio quality. The GP2X Audio Output has nearly no bass and crappy "ssssssssssssss" tones.
I hope the new Machine will have an better Audio Quality, I don't know if this was an general hardware or just an Software problem on the GP2X. ^^""
But I want BASS! BASS! Yeah We need BASS! BASS! *sing*

And until the 8gb SDs get down to ~£10, I'm quite happy with my 1gb and 2gb ones :)...
Of course, there's a very good chance that's what they'll cost by the time this beasty gets released...

But you did realize this is an english board and next to no one will get it, right?

That, and some might make a witty remark about how the singing bass is annoying. (Of course, that would be making fun of the plastic singing fish that many Americans know and hate. I don't know if that piece of shit made it overseas or not. ;) )

That singing fish made it to England *sighs*. Now, back to the topic. I think the new console needs to be the first GP console (though technically not a GP console) with a decent set of speakers.

Huh?

"Bass" (ger)="Bass" (engl) ;)

To stay on topic, I just mentioned this theme because I have no clue about the Audio Quality of this OMAP Chipset. ^^"" I hope it's good enough for headphone usage and OK for internal Speakers. At least an BASS switch in the music Player for the new machine would be nice. More effective than just the preset-equalizer functions like on the GP2X Music Player.

It'd be really cool to have a Mega Bass switch on the system, like some CD players have, but I doubt that'll happen. ^_^;

I honestly don't think bass is needed...couldn't you just go with better audio hardware for that????

and then have an equilizer built into the system OS?

Yes you could. I just said it would be cool, I'm not going to push for it.

this is just too much .. 80% on this thread are jokes??!? and "unbelievable" requests .. why on earth "Mega Bass switch on the system" ?

we are doomed .. since the gameboy the handeld world is suffering ..
wi-fi, wide screen, touchscreen, keyboard, microphone, hard-disk to play what? games that were written for big-screen and coin op machines, games that were written in `70 -> `90 ... for our older audience

how you think the gaming-industry will be interested in selling games for a new "unknown" console ?

this is the thing that should be in your mind ..

i do prefer the gp2x .. it has everything i ever dreamed of with from `70 and ending with `90 in cps2 era .. when we all meet the reality .. the real life, family, workplace, kids .. i do play 2-3hours a day and while long-distance travels
i actually don`t need n64/saturn/psx/ps2/nds .. they are something different and they belong to the "powerful" present-day machines that are hardly emulated even on noisy home-computers.. they aren`t dead just like the others .. it is the past we would like to relive?
for me yes ..it is the past ..thankyou gp2x and every distributor involved :)

Good for you, you're fine with the GP2X. That means you don't need to complain about a system you won't buy because the GP2X does everything fine for you. Also, we never said anything about commercial games, so your comment about the console being "unknown" is irrelevant. You say that what you are thinking is what should be in our mind, but if we think what you say, 2 things would happen. First, we wouldn't have individuality. Second, we would never buy a new handheld, because we would be "fine" with the GP2X.

I love the GP2X, but at the same time, I want more than what the GP2X has to offer. That's why this topic is so large, because a large number of us want more. If you don't want more, then truthfully, you have nothing to offer with a post, because you won't be a customer, seeing as how you're fine with your 2X, you won't be a dev much for the same reason, and you won't even express new ideas, because you don't want anything more.

btw, Sam, I thought you would have more to say in response to him. o_ô

I have two questions:

1 - I searched but didn't find a reference to it - will the Craigenator have a CMOS battery for time/date?

2 - At what point does this cease to be the "GP3X" and start being just another UMPC, albeit running Linux?
