Right, if anyone wants to add a boot up animation/sound (master system is my personal fave), then feel free to add them here. That's if it's even possible or been figured out yet!

Don't have a go, I'm just trying to start something here, mainly cos I don't know how to do it and I know there are people on these boards that do know how!

Given that hotfix 4 seems to have changed the startup from nothing to a slow flashing mouse, I imagine it must be possible to do something.

The mouse was already a choose-able setting and can still be turned off if desired.

Gruso has shown the prior threads, where some really nice ideas were showcased but most felt they didn´t want the slowdown, if it introduces any.

I´m all up for ways to easily create ones for end users, perhaps with audio enabled................... "Leeeeeeroyyyyyy Jeeennnkkkiiinssss!.... or perhaps it is a silly idea afterall. :)

The mouse-thing creeps me out .. I had no idea that was the xfce logo and startup-thing. In xfce config panels you can disable the startup animation, change it to blank black screen, etc. Pretty weird and distracting imho :)

I was out chasing small things again and decided to leave you a present to allay your fears...check your inbox, though on second thoughts you might think I was stalking you...so I´ll leave it out in the open...Creepy huh? :)

I'm still for a Pandora themed mini-game-while-you-wait type start up. Just something simple that uses close to the same amount of resources as an animation.

I'm thinking a atari style game with craig on the roof top throwing pandoras down and you running back and forth trying to catch as many as possible before the time runs out. Or alternately you run back and forth trying to avoid being pummeled by craig's drunken pandora throwing rage. :p

Is something like this out of the realm of possibilities? It's would obviously need to be an optional boot-up -just like everything else :D

It didn't creep me out, but the brightness of it blinded me the first time because I wasn't expecting it. I need to remember to turn it off.

I would love to be able to make the startup thing have the console with the Pandora logo in the corner, instead of a progress bar

Yeah, I'm much more for an optional text console bootup option. I know you can coax it in to doing so with bootargs but it would still be a nice option, especially if it's like "Press V for verbose boot." Type thing, so if someone has a failing bootup, they'll know why withoug haviing to have some rs232 adapter that doesn't exist.

Hmmm, this makes me wonder: do we have KMS yet?

I know this would make anything X-related (graphics and controls) available much sooner in the boot-process. Thus creating more time for crazy interactive-animation-stuff.
