Nintendo 3DS

Reading this made me Raff Out Rowd.

Actually, come to think of it and IMHO the reason why they didn't put a 2nd CP on it (apart from the fact they plan on putting out an CPP XL) is that in 2 or 3 years time they'll want to release a 3DS XL Rite, which is a 3DS XL with a RIGHT-hand circle pad.

Imo nintendo suck.A new 3ds already? If i had a 3ds id be miffed and to think people were pissed at the 1ghz units.I couldnt care less for ninty anymore.End of rant

To be fair to Nintendo, pretty much every console/handheld over the last 20 years has had an update/upgrade/facelift within a year or two of their release, or certainly within their lifespan - MegaDrive, MegaCD, PS1, PS2, PS3, Saturn, N64 (expansion pack), XBox360, GBA, PSP, iOS devices, NDS etc. - all have variants. It was to be expected from the 3DS too - admittedly it's sooner than most owners would like, but the benefits of the new system are pretty clear for those that may have been thinking of getting the system.

I don't regret being a day 1 owner of the 3DS. The hardware is fine. It's the software that sucks. Thankfully there are a few good 3DS games and hundreds of cheap DS games to play while waiting for some better stuff to arrive. I use my 3DS every day and have never regretted buying it.

There is a massive difference between someone being peeved because they have an irrational, immature fear that a functionally-identical but cosmetically-different device revision will stop them from being a special little snowflake any longer, and someone being peeved because they paid four years ago for a device and it's already been revised twice with actual hardware changes before they ever even got it.

It is more than ridiculous to be miffed about this in any capacity. It's the same hardware but it looks different, and is aimed at new customers because that's the point of making revisions (NOT replacements) for specific market-segments (for example, the DSi XL, which was aimed mainly at those in their 40s/50s/60s). There is nothing there for anyone to be peeved about - though it certainly appears that those who are incapable of understanding that this is identical hardware and not aimed at them if they already have one, and and who cannot understand how business tends to work (hint: The idea of business is to make customers and retain them too, not just to keep serving the same ones), are trying their hardest to stamp their feet and scream and scream and scream until they're sick.

That video made to much sense, remove it ASAP.

You can't make sense in blogs, threads, community boards, and on Youtube, it is against all that is holy in this world.

Yeah, I don't really know what the problem is anytime a company releases a new product in a paticular line of devices. I personally don't mind when Nintendo and Sony release a new handheld, as sometimes I buy them and sometimes I don't. Some have features that appeal to me and others don't.

I upgraded my PSP 1000 for a 2000, but I didn't bother with a 3000 or a go, as they didn't offer any improvements that I felt I needed. I bought the original DS Phat at launch, and upgraded to the lite when that was released. I didn't bother to get a DSi, but I did get an DSiXL as the bigger screen appealed to me.

I'm sure when the next Vita is released I will buy one, as I'm sure they will make it lighter, thinner and add longer battery life. The Vita screen is pretty awesome now, so I can't see that improving much, but a thinner and lighter Vita appeals to me so I'm sure to get the next model. After that, I probably won't bother, but for those who may want something differant, they may or may not upgrade the first go around, It's all about choices.

But after all is said and done, you know what is great about any and all new revisions that Sony,Microsoft and Nintendo may release? The first model will run games just as well as the last model in a paticular line of systems. I know people who still use their DS Phats, and original 360's, and 60GB PS3's. So some new revisions may add better screens, or less backwards compatibilty, or they may remove features and add others, but they all play their intended games from start to finish. So if nothing new is added for your taste, you can skip any new system and you can still play games that a new adopter can, so no problems.

Now, Apple has the biggest and loyalist following in the world, and every few years their current models of iphones and ipads are rendered next to useless. Now in my opinion, this is complete and utter garbage, and if anyone should have a problem with a company for releasing a new product to soon, it should be with them. I bought a 3rd gen iPod touch a few years back, and most new games run very poorly on my unit now. Some games still run perfectly, but others stutter and pause and just run very bad. There is no fucking way I will ever buy another Apple product again for this exact reason, because if I want to play the newest and best games, I have to upgrade every few years, and it is NOT AN OPTION.

So people can say what they want about Nintendo, or even Sony next year when I'm sure they will add a new Vita to the current model on store shelves, but there are far worse things a company can do besides just offering you choices(I'm looking at you Apple  ).

Chris

This is happening with Android products as well. :(

Also, I agree with everything you have just said.

What gets me, is that when Sony does the same thing, the same people whining about this won't whine about that. They also won't whine if Sony were to make actual alterations. It's hypocrisy.

I quit after i noticed, that those glory times, when you got a SuperNintendo and have MANY YEARS of fun and good new games for it has ended.

Having to buy so much new hardware that you will never get sold at a good prize AND having to spend so much money for games isn't possible for me

and even if it was, i wouldn't do it.

N64 was the last console i ever bought and it sucked. Nintendo should not have started this whole 3D-Thing before the GameCube and should

have made good 2D-Games with a higher resolution and better animations instead.

The sold the low SNES-Resolution with unripe N64-3D-Games for so many years, that playing them with emulators actually is more fun, than playing the original console,

because you ruin your eyes with it.

Later on i didn't even bring any TV to my new flat and it's better without it.

I played Phantom Hourglass on my girlfriends DS and couldn't believe, that i had to blow into a microphone and one time even shout into it (well, blowing works there too).

What has gotten into them? This is a portable device. You should be able to play this in public places without being a total honk.

I recently discovered, that i missed a lot from the old NES and play Kirbys Adventure, Megaman 1-6 etc.. rather than much of the new stuff.

So, you're judging the world's best-selling games console of all time, and by far the best console since the SNES, on the basis of one game and what sounds like a lack of confidence in being seen having fun? :( You're missing out on a huge amount of fantastic games (there have indeed been many years of fun and good new games for it) - you really ought to look harder. (Until the DS, the SNES was my favourite console of all time - now I have to actually specify "favourite home-console" and "favourite handheld console". )

The 3DS is clearly getting started on following on from that legacy.

Well, some of you may or may not know this, but the original Famicom(NES) had a microphone on the second controller, so these kinds of gimmicks are nothing new to Nintendo. Some are good, and some or bad, and some don't effect me one way or another.

I applaud them for their expertise in trying new things, but they need to dial it back sometimes, but for the most part I normally enjoy the innovations they bring to the masses.

I agree with P., the DS has some of the greatest games ever made over the last few generations, and many of them don't involve any kind of crap blowing or touch screen gimmicks.

Chris

Bottom line is...if you don't want to buy it then you don't have to.
Dude, when did you get a 3DSXL already? Did that thing came out yet?

Edit: oh wait, my bad, you said soon. Gotcha. I'm so gonna get one too. seeing it is believing for me. that thing look freaking awesome.
