The presentation of the Xbox360 at E3, is a big Fake. There is no running xbox360, all playable xbox360 demos are Running on two !APPLE! Power MACs.

This isn't news, dude. Well the part about the two macs is news, but we all knew that the demos were running on dev kits and not the actual hardware.

So what? They did this same thing when they showed the first Xbox the first time at E3 a few years ago.

Anyways, we're all kinda hoping that this is why the games didn't look nearly as good as some of us expected them too, hardly looking better than Xbox 1 games and running at choppy frame rates.

it is funny how little effort MS put into hiding this fact at E3 though :p

huh? I don't get that comment, nardich.

Now to clarifiy: The Macs you can see in the picture ARE the dev kits. They have a 2.8 GHz CPU (as opposed to 3 symmetric 3.2 GHz CPUs the 360 will use) and a much less capable GPU. Calling the xbox 360 a fake is just plain wrong. M$ didn't try to hide the devkits (would you hide something behind a metal-plate with holes in it? I don't think so), as the boxes (the grey thing) were standing in the middle of the room, and everyone could go around it. M$ just doesn't have a full spec xbox360 available atm. The fact that the games run of a devkit makes me happy actualy. As many people reported, that there was no big improvement over current gen consoles. Now, the final xbox 360 will be much more stronger than what is shown on the E3, so there will be much room, for improvements. The fact that it's e devkit also explains why the controllers are wired. The Devkits don't have a RF board, so it can't communicate with RF controllers. The xbox 360 that is in the box, is just for display purposes.

Indeed.

Personally, I think the reason everything is choppy is because they're running unoptomised alpha and beta software, and not even on the final system; they've got another few months before they have to bring up the framerate and tweak the graphics.

Yeah, I think that might be another reason.

But still: calling the xbox360 fake, is something I woulkd expect from tabloids.

What I actually do find funny is that the DevKit runs on two Macs... the sworn enemy for Microsoft ;)

Exactly!

I think some of you are missing the point here.

Not exactly enemy. ;) M$ sells s/ware for MacOS.

XBox runs on PowerPC.
Windows doesn't run on PowerPC, MacOS does.
That's a 'no-brainer' solution!

What would have been funny is if they had Linux running on the Mac :)

it dosnt run on two macs, it runs on one :)
the stands are allways 2 "xboxes".
and i tihnk tis a real shame to cant run it on the real hardware when they are about to release it in a half year, well ms sucks :)

"its up to 2348238956347893478 times more powerfull than anything that exist's, tahts why it runs on current gen macs"

And Gates owns a sizeable amount of Apple stock.

Why have something as expensive, ugly, and slow as a Mac as a devkit? (yeah, I know the fanboys'll hate me for this one).

mac is faster than pc, stfu.
and itwould be impossible toemulate a xbox360 on a pc, on a mac its propably not that diff

Put better:
PPC Processors are more powerful than x86 processors. Thus comparing a Mac's space with a PC's specs is what an idiot would do - I had this argument with my friend a while back.

Why have something as expensive, ugly, and slow as a Mac as a devkit? (yeah, I know the fanboys'll hate me for this one).
Right I have a G4 mac and a PC, lets guss which looks better... erm the mac by a long shot. Even my custom built pc which I spraypainted purple looks worst!

What viable alternative is there for development of XBOX360 games?

BTW I don't think that Macs are slow and ugly, although they are expensive.

If you read the linked webpage they state that the graphics look poor probably because the Mac's graphics card is no where near as powerful as the XBOX360's.

Blah, I really think you have some issues.

edit: typo

OMG, how the hell would i rocket jump?

if/when the FPS games support keyboard+mouse

macs only have one mouse button!

have to get used to using space bar for jumping :(
