Regarding the tantalum caps; I don't quite know where the project is at sourcing the caps or if the problem is being sorted another way but I was thinking that if we have to use 'conflict materials' (and probably do, unwittingly) then is it worth donating a percentage of proceeds to charities that help people in these war torn countries?
I read a little about this
organisation working in Africa and I'm sure there are plenty of others. Making a charitable donation could be a way of offsetting the need for conflict materials in the pyra. In the UK corporate charitable donations are tax deductible so maybe dragonbox.de wouldn't lose out financially (assuming the German system is similar) and it seems, to me at least, to be something that would fit well with the pyra ethos. This sort of practise also has positive marketing leverage too.
Just a thought....
