For anyone who has not yet found it, there is also a similar thin vinyl layer on the Power/Battery strip.
Of course I have not/would "never try to solder, repair, disassemble........void the warranty" my GP2X because it tells me in the manual not to. However I think you would be doing the community, yet another, great service ED. I know someone else (not me, honest guv) who, quite rightly I think, bottled out of trying to disengage the back cover.Maybe someone could post a photo tutorial on how to take apart the unit safely. I tried taking mine apart yesterday I took all of the screws out but something was holding back near the bottom of the unit. I didnt want to force it before I knew what I was pulling away maybe it has some sort of latch.
