Very good and compatible Atari-ST emulator, it includes STE emulation (wow!)
Now it even supports TT/Falcon, but that's probably too much for our small black friend.

Would be great if this one could be ported.

ste just had better sound and more colors, but it did not get widespread use in games. also the ste was somewhat more unstable than the st

(im sorry for sounding so fad it,s late and im tired)

OutcaST is one of my favorite emulators, it runs lots of ST games full speed.

Still there is room for improvement:

- sound
- command line support (for gpmenu2x)
- STE (you can use the STE rom for STE enhanced games)
- compatibility (lots of homebrew will not run, but also commercial games fa Jumping Jackson)
- better save state handling and user interface in general

You are right, there are not too much games developed for STE, but there are a couple nice ones (fa Obsession)

Skeezix is on a well deserved homebrew journey (and a nice one I might say), so it could be time for another dev to step into the ST arena. According to the Hatari site it should be possible to run Hatari on a 200Mhz machine.
It's not up to me to decide if it is woth a devs time, but I like the ST. It looks like Amiga emulation will never be as good as the ST on the gp2x, so why not improve ST emulation.

Hatari runs too slow to be playable on the gp2x. And yes, I did a quick port so I know what I talking about.

That's too bad.. I think Hatari is the best open source ST emulator and it's still very active and has a great dev. I haven't seen any port to pda's as well so you're probably right. :(

Maybe ST could be done better if Cyclone was used?

Considering we have fullspeed Sega CD which is much more complex with 2X 68000s and more advanced sprite and rendering, ST could fairly easily be full speed with full and accurate sound. The ST sound chip is pretty rudimentary, could even be moved to the second core. That is probably not even needed though.

I agree that since smooth and fullspeed Amiga emulation seems just out of reach, getting ST to full power may be a good option.
