Release GPSP For Pandora... From Notaz!

Any idea as to why Space invaders and Iridion II crash on this version but work on the Wiz/GP2X version? Seems weird.

Thanks for the great work.

Has no one else noticed this emulator's tendency to go into a frozen state where it continuously plays a very loud, screeching sound, forcing you to restart or load a save state? It's not even rare, especially in Mario Party Advance. It was also bad enough in Mario&Luigi RPG that I made a habit of constantly saving the state in case it happened again.

With Mario Party Advance, it happens so often that I don't even bother playing it with this emulator.

I found that with Mario and Luigi too, especially just when starting a battle! Using a different version of the rom seems to have fixed it for me though...

this is probably a long shot here.....but who knows...

how possible would it be to implement a speed-up feature into this, and maybe other older-gen emulators? i remember the only way i was able to play the older pokemon games, is through emulation and using emulators speed-up functions. nothing to do with frameskip, just if it could play the video/sound 2,3, or even 4x the original speed. SCRATCH THAT! IT HAS THAT FEATURE!!! { for a little bit back, and } for fast forward, LOVE IT!

either way, great work on this, exophase for the emulator, and notaz for the wonderful way it looks on pandora screen with scaling

Many thanks for this..

Is there any chance of including some filter effects to combat the blurry visuals at fullscreen stretch, some of the Gngeo ones for example: Scale2x with 50%/75% scanlines, HQ2X, LQ2X etc would be great.

Cheers.

Wow, just discovered this latest version and the games run really well.

Thanks Notaz once again for your amazing work. :)

2011-09. September last year ;)

[edit] I see you edited. I think NeoG just calls it new because he didn't know this version was released. We ran it under GINGE before we got a native build last September.

I run AB Mouse and it stops this emulator reading the buttons, has anyone else found this?

Has anyone found a work around other than removing AB Mouse from the start up sequence?

Gpsp is not one of the best gba emulator at all, visual boy advance is full screen already and plays nearly game full speed,i've noticied not all game run great but still is ok,i use only visual boy advance because it's been my favourite from the pc and now i get it to play on pandora that's greatness and perfection.

Are you trolling? VBA plays GB/GBC games fine and it's my choice for GBC/SGB games, but GBA games are definitely not full speed.

As far as I'm aware the original VBA emu hasn't seen any activity since 2006, there is however a fork: VBA-M (which i use currently SVN1022) and is an ongoing project, it's fantastic as far as I'm concerned, haven't tried anything yet that doesn't run perfectly & with the multitude of scaling & filter options, they look beautiful.. alas it's Windows only so no chance for our little bundle of joy.

VBA-M is a great emulator, in most ways a lot better than gpSP.. It's not Windows only either (for instance I've used it on x86 Linux IIRC) and you're free to port it. But its performance is many times below gpSP's on an ARM device.

Linux & open, hmm.. a potential optimisation project maybe (can't hurt to try?)..

This would surely be another indispensable killer app for the Pandora.

I've wondered the same on how much VBA could be optimized. As an experiment I tried overclocking my pandora to the max I can without crashing which is around 1050Mhz at OPP5. I launched mednafen (which is based on the same code as VBA) and tried three games: Zelda - Minish Cap, Metroid Fusion, and Mario Kart. With the exception of Mario Kart all seemed to be smooth and full speed. You can tell if there is any frame drop because the sound becomes awful. This slowdown happened somewhat regularly during a race in Mario Kart.

So perhaps if it was possible to squeeze out a 15% to 20% improvement in performance - you might have something thats quite good. Whether these three games I picked were representative of average perfomance I really don't know.
