As long as you make minimum payments it would probably cost look good. I hate using credit, but if I want to build my house that is how I am going to have to do it. This is how I was told to make it better.

    Sorry for the offtopic.

I had only horror experiences with SAMBA 4,

    Usually the scenario is:
In order to save money from licenses, the customer "implements" Samba AD only to fuck up the whole infrastructure and then I am summoned to save him overworking myself to death.
And this happened more then once.

So Thanks, I will pass. IMO it is not suitable for organizations which are heavy dependent on other Microsoft products and services.

It maybe more suitable for other non MS infrastructures alongside with other free/opensource solutions.

I know what you mean and many people think like that.
Just to clarify: Samba4 does not work with MS Exchange. But I got my Samba4 Installations tested by AD heavy software creators and they were positively surprised.
If you combine it with Zimbra as an Exchange alternative, most companies will have everything they need.
I also sell and install Windows Servers exclusively if the scenario needs it.
Or my favorite: a combination of the two, where the DCs, print and fileservers are Samba and customer specific software is hosted on Windows Server systems with MS SQL for example. Zimbra for collaboration.

    Okay back on the topic.

The WIN2 looks neat for sure, with the features like M.2 slot the 8 gigs of RAM and so on,
My main concerns are the very aggressive PWM screen back light, the noise and the heat.
I will wait for some independent reviews on those topics after the final units are shipped to the end customers.

I still have faith in PYRA, mainly because I prefer ARM over x86 for this kind of device.

I will receive a prototype within the next few days and will check the PWM.

Very nice. I would be interested in the actual heat+noise of the CPU/Fan solution. Nothing kills gaming experience like loud Computers...or melting ones or throtteling, or all of it... ;). One reason why I still search for an good Laptop with some gaming capabilities.

Having just got a Pocket a short while ago, I think I might actually go for one of these when they're generally available. Looks like they took the drawbacks of the pocket and Win, fixed them and built a neat handheld. That said, I love the screen on the pocket and will miss the resolution, but that's not an issue for games.

    Hello all,

Just caught up with the thread. Win 2 is a pretty awesome device. I got in a USB-C dock adapter which had Power-In, HDMI out, 3 USB-A ports and SD card reader and it works perfectly fine within Xubuntu. I didn't make any video about this, but if anyone was curious if the USB-C port could be used as a dock, it works in both Win10 and Linux.

Having said that, I am still very much looking forward to the Pyra. I'd love to feature Pyra on my channel eventually as I really enjoyed my OG Pandora's DPAD as well as the ecosystem surrounding Pandora. I'm a huge Gaming UMPC fan, so I'm kind of a sucker for these types of gadgets.

Anyhoo, my 256 CC Pandora was unused for a bit and I powered it back to life and updated to Super Zaxxon 175 and it's incredible how much has happened on the Pandora scene from where it was in 2011. It's certainly a good time to be a UMPC-Gaming fan XD

If there is any questions you have about the Win2, just let me know. A lot of people are getting Win2 in now, so you'll be seeing a lot more diverse reviews.

GPD were kind enough to send me a WIN 2 which I got today. First look, it looks to be a solid unit. It weighs 449g on the scale, exactly 80g heavier than the WIN 1.

Thumb typing is very noticeably better on the WIN 2, a big improvement there

Really enjoyed your videos as well on the Win2.

I'm interested in the screen reflections (maybe with a comparison to a Pandora since you own one) when there is a window, a neon light, or outdoors.

Also interested in the headphone output quality, dpad quality, and battery life figures for several use cases: modern 3D gaming, modern emulation like Dolphin, old emulation like Sega Megadrive, streaming video playback.

Looking forward to get some neutral opinion about the d-pad quality and the rest of it.

I know.... Shame on me for not having replied to your email from middle last year... I've not ignored it, but I want to wait until we least have a final unit (with cooling, etc.) before sending it out to reviewers.
You'll get one, no worries :)

BTW: if you're interested reviewing other stuff from my shop, let me know :)

It will be great if you manage to provide the exact frequencies on the different brightness levels by using oscilloscope and light sensor.
We maybe lucky if there is no flickering on 75% brightness and above.

I don't think I can do that, but I've got a highspeed camera, which will help doing estimations with different frequencies.
I can also compare it with the Pandora and Pyra.
