GPD have announced the GPD Pocket 2 Max at the SVIAZ expo in Moscow. It will be another new product that will launch this year with the WIN Max launching later on in the year. ie they are two different products

Liliputing article about it here: https://liliputing.com/2019/04/gpd-pocket-2-max-is-an-8-9-inch-laptop-with-core-m3-8100y.html

Specs: Finger print sensor plus the specs in the pics below:

Ah, so despite being leaked/released second, the GPD Pocket 2 Max is coming out before the GPD Win Max.

I'm slightly losing track of the different products and product lines coming out from GPD at the moment. Was there a GPD Pocket 2 that this is maxing? And how big was that, in terms of the screen diagonal inches?

I think they might be in danger of flooding a small market for a x86 handhelds already. With so many products coming out, it might end up being the case that it's pretty much always worth waiting six months for the next thing to come out, and then it's worth waiting another six months again ad infinitum. Result; everyone's waiting, nobody buys anything.

It's especially complicated for smaller distributors like me.

What should I order, what do customers want?

When the GPD Win 1 and Pocket was out, it was easy - I ordered 50 of each (which still was 30k EUR to be paid), but now we've got more expensive products and a lot more different ones...
I can't order huge quantities of every product they have, that would cost me 200k EUR.

Seems like a normal laptop at this point, just smaller than usual and with decent specs. I'm not sure what else they can make past the Win Max and Pocket 2 Max, though, since there aren't any better chips to use that would work for them. If they're trying to infiltrate the standard laptop market...well, it's a good try, but I don't see that being especially successful from a company like GPD.

Well, yes, there is one small issue I'm seeing in the future: More powerful 13" laptops are cheaper than the Pocket 2.
The bigger they go, the less it's something unique, the more you have to fight with your prices.

8" is still nice, but anything bigger... well, you can get those already.

The Max class is GPD's response to users , particularly their chinese userbase asking for something with bigger screens. They are not pocketable and yeah the name probably should been changed for the pocket 2 max. I agree.

They sit as ultra portables I suppose for use of a better name, a class between laptop and pocketable. For people that want something they can carry around easily in a bag rather than lugging a bigger heavier laptop.

They envisage having a pocketable line and Max line .

Is there lineup getting a little crowded, maybe. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think that myself

For what it's worth, as I have said before , I like all handhelds and generally follow them all. For example it's me that created and constantly updates the PYRA section (with ED's updates) on the gpd_devices discord channel

I have also written into media sites to get stories written about the PYRA in the past , like the ones below.

I'm not sure what kind of market gap they want to fill with that. Laptop-sizes are already covered up in all flavours and same with pocket sizes like GPDs usual devices. Not sure if there is a need for something neither laptop nor pocket size...

Wow, people really asked for something like that?

Problem is people often don't actually know what they want until they see it for real. Of course, the Pyra community is a little different here as there is an unusually large proportion of experts and specialist ultraportable enthusiasts (and driven by people who really know what they're talking about). I just hope for GPD's sake that that they aren't trying to satisfy all random requests they get.
