Gp81

Woogal,

Just had a play with the emulator and it is very cool indeed.

Just a few things, what's newline on the chatboard????????

Also any plans for a virtual keyboard as well??

Thanks,
Matt

I couldn't seem to use the virtual keyboard, and I don't have a chatboard, so with some more input options this would be really nice!
Without a chatboard your only option is to assign keys to buttons by pressing help followed by select.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that :). It's shift+p (same as quake and edgepad). Also, the zx81 shift key is right arrow, not the chatboard shift (there is a valid reason for that, trust me), which means that backspace is right arrow+0 and " is right arrow+p etc. Now you know this you can load .ppp files using only the chatboard if you want to - just do load "filename" (without .ppp)

I don't have any more plans for gp81 at all (well actually that's a lie, but I'll probably never find time to work on this again), but the source is there for anyone who wants to add more stuff.

Cheers Woogle,

Shame you might not continue with the emulator... It's times like this that I wish I could code!

If anyone else out there wants to carry on with the emulator I have a few ideas.

Adios,
Matt

I had a QL.

There were some good games.

Karateka
Blocklands warrior
Citadel

As for theres no point.....its a bit like mountain climbing.

You do it cause they are there.

Alright fair enough you win. Persuade someone to create or port over a QL emulator for the sake of 3 or so games and i'll be impressed.

Theres many other machines (Eg Oric / Dragon) which could be ported which have a far better range of games than the QL.

I'm a huge Speccy fan but i dont think a QL emulator would be that good or hardly used by many people.

I found this site by searching for another news item on a super fast QL emulator. I write a colum in a QL magazine that has been going for 9 years and I have to tell you there are many QL emulators, including a commersial one that runs under XP in full 16 bit colour! There may not be as meany games for it as for teh Speccy but have a look at RWAP Software.
