Gngeo2x 0.6.9 *update*

pepone: has there been any progress in getting pulstar to work? Or has anybody else been able to get it working?

Keep up the good work...

Pulstar never had work, even on the original gngeo :(
It must a stupid bug, but I just can't get it...

For neocup, the graphical glitch in arcade is certainly due to the lack of HBLANK interrupt emulation.
You can enable it with -r on the command line
For now, that mode is not really tested on the GP2X, so it may not work, and will slow down a little the emulation.

Some other game that need hblank to be enabled:
Super side kick 2,3 and 4
Galaxy Fight

just as a quick question, does overtop work?

and what are the advantages with home over arcade emulation?

Subin - AES (home) should give you a few extra options such as practice/survival mode in fighters, although you've often got the bonus of unlimited credits on the MVS if you just want to run through a game without having to worry about running out of continues.

Anyway, keep up the good work on this pepone! This is pretty much the reason I bought a GP2X even though I already own an MVS and pretty much every game I'd want to play on it. It's like a portable extension of my cab! Donation pending soon as I get paid.

Hi,

a little tip, if you use the aes mode with the universal bios, push select+start in game and you will have a surprise

bye

Once you have a pulstar.nv file in your save folder, you can switch back and play it in MVS mode too. ;) You get the title music with this option. :)

Did you have to change the romrc file? because the filenames seem to be different. my roms have the same crc but are named 089-p1.bin etc but it runs out of memory for graphics even with the graphics dumped :(

Now with this new version that you don't use scripts how do you get sound working? Is there an option somewhere or a text file to edit? If so which file and what do you do? This emu is great but all of the hackery linux stuff makes my head hurt

Thanks.

While you are in the selector, push Y; Then you'll see that 'gngeo --sound' appear.
You can now launch a game as usual, with sound enabled.

Here Dave, download my gngeo2x_config, I amended it so the sound is always enabled when the application starts. Saves me forgetting to enable it each time I load a rom. :) The missing link which I forgot to post. (Must be my age  ).

You can still disable sound by pressing Y, all I have done is change the cmdline order.

Now there is a volume control I very rarely play a game with sound disabled.

Changed the filenames in the pulstar.zip to match the romrc. Then dumped the graphics. I used the universal bios 1.3 but it also works with universal bios 1.2.

When I first tried to load it under MVS, I got the official SNK warning. So I loaded it under AES, and it started, once I had a pulstar.nv file in the save folder, I found that I could load it as an MVS game.

The title music doesn't work under AES but does under MVS. I seem to remember that this was commented on, at the uni-bios homepage as a limitation of the AES system or something like that.

I should check really.

Yes, very good as far as I'm concerned. Averages 45fps @ 266mhz. :D
