Glbasic For The Gp2x!

C (without SDL) is all you need :) it's not even that complicated, well, that's if you love the low-level shit.

I'm seriously considering buying this, but would really like to see a demo of something running on the gp2x that has been coded with it.

Is anything available? Surely it makes sense for the developer to release a simple game as a gp2x executable to show what is possible, or is current performance really too slow for anything to be playable?
Well, here's a demo that runs on my machine: http://www.glbasic.com/beta/wumbo-gp2x.de. However some people reported they have a flickering problem. Could you test?

Remember guys this is made to create games but you won't get arrested if you make something else.

For example you could probably code a graphing calculator or other utility or app with this. Could result in some nice utilities and speed won't be as much of an issue.

After several attempts I found the correct url to be http://www.glbasic.com/beta/wumbo-gp2x.rar

Next I tried to play and found my character stood on a single visible square in an otherwise blank/black space, I exploded if i walked in any direction. I noticed in the levels directory that the two files level.01 and level.02 only contained a single 0 character, so I renamed another level file to level.01 and level.02. Now the game seemed to work. The only glitch I noticed was the pink enemies had a black background (presumably this should have been transparent).

I had no flickering problems either in the intro, menu or game, i'm using firmware 2.1.0.

(Almost) working version. Only the first line when clipped has some drawing glitches now.

I also use the blitter for graphics now. It runs very smooth with 60fps on my device.
I finally sat down and started playing with this. Works great on the PC! But I've tried compiling some sample 3D programs for the GP2X, and other than the demo progress bar & the FPS counter, I get nothing but a black screen. The link above doesn't work.

Is 3D not yet supported for the GP2X? Or am I doing something wrong? I'm using the latest build from the website, 4.091

No, 3D is not supported yet. But the author is working on it :)
He's currently porting TinyGL to the 2nd CPU :)
