this would of been a great program for teh gp2x too, what a bunch of assholes, I think they just don't like linux or support open source

From a hackers perspective how far behind is SOE? I still think it would be easier to port ClanLib and then SOE than start from scratch. Zelda Classic has the neat(er, dated-esk) editor, but one could be written for SOE.

I have played Zelda Classic and its just the same as Zelda on NES.. the Secret of Eternia looks like the SNES zelda.

Hmm, you know, I actually liked the Link to the Past on the SNES rather than the first NES Link game. Zelda Classic was moving in the SNES direction, they hadn't implemented swimming or running last time I played, but they were coding it. The SNES was the same idea, just more features.

Anyway, maybe it's time to give up on Zelda Classic and go for a open source engine.

Thanx,
Stan

Well, the good thing about Zelda Classic is that there are tons of finished, quite good quests already.
An Engine is useless without good quests...

And Zelda Classic also can be used to created SNES-like-Zelda games - it's up to the creator, most features of LttP are completely included.

EvilDragon - look at my artwork. I'll make some killer start quests -- ran 4 persistent worlds in Neverwinter Nights, 2 were listed in NWNconnections.com's Top 10 List of All Time for over 2 years. It's all about creating a hook - that is, any trigger that can generate an emotional response from the player.

If SoE has an editor - or even files I can piece together - I can do that part.

[edit - added link so folks won't have to scroll down and use sig]

Hmm, I bet if you messaged a few of the authors of the quests in ZC I bet they would port them over if it was easy to script/use tilesets. I hope ZC does make it to the GP2X, but you should talk to the guy from SOE, I've talked to him off and on on his forums, now Sourceforge.net. I'm sure if someone on here was porting it then he'd help, and I'm almost positive some of the devs on ClanLib would also.

Thanx,
Stan
