Gamepark Named Newgp32 Xgp ?

Amiga.....Mmmmm, I love the sound of that. :D

Maybe a bit too big to fit in your pocket though. :p

My thinking is: 400mhz 320x240, Gizmondo or ninja anyone. :p

Hopefully more than 400mhz... I mean, the GP32 was 5 or 6 times faster than the GBA. Obviously I don't expect something quite like that this time, but a substantial amount still...

I take the Amiga comment to mean that it will have custom GFX chips for sprites etc in it rather than just relatively simple GFX hardware and screen buffer like the ST.

Amiga? jeez.. it sounds like we are actually taking a trip to the past, not advancing.. i guess this one aint for me then :(
I don't think so... I think he just means in terms of hardware is more similar to how the Amiga was--instead of the GP32 which is apparently more similar to the ST.

Certainly the GP32 is far more powerful than the ST. ;)

I would certainly think the GP32 is more powerful than an ST since it can emulate it :) But yeah I think he is hinting that the new model would have custom hardware in it like the Amiga.

Well, like I said before, I don't care if their new system is called the Steaming Pile of Shit...
Hmm, that's catchy; behold the mighty SPS! "My SPS is better than your PSP!"

OK, some things...

Firstly it does not use SMC :)
That's a good thing! I just hope it's backwards compatible software-wise... that should be one of the first things on their priority list (look how well it worked for Nintendo)!

I thought he was saying that the new one will have power enough to emulate the Amiga, where as the current GP32 can emulate the Atari ST...

or something like that...

:)

i want to know how it looks like xD
i cant get that fake one out of my mind :p it looked really cool ;P
but something like the wonderswan would be cool to for some vertical shooters :p

Edit:
Hm both things sound good... either it can emulate the amiga for sure or it has custom hardware build in like the amiga....

I think that the problem for this Personal entertainment player is that it's not enough powerful <_<

I certainly hope it is NOT like that fake one. Clamshell design means playing all vertical oriented MAME games would be impossible at the correct aspect ratio and full screen. Plus that was a widescreen display which would mean all emulated games would either be displayed in a tiny little square in the center of the screen or be stretched all out of shape. If it is like that I won't buy it. The current one would be better for emus.

no not that fake :p

the other fake ;P the one that was more gbasp-like... with the tiny oled-display on one side.

but well i think that wouldnt be good for vertical games either. But it looks damm cool :p

Yes, because of the new systems hardware you cannot judge it at all on CPU power.

Just think how well the GBA emulates the NES with only 16mhz...

Hopefully perfect handheld SNES emulation will be around the corner.

Are you joking? i'd expect perfect N64 emulation at least.. if not, then.. the system sucks imo.. end of story <_<

I meant that I hope it's coming REALLY REALLY REALLY SOON... and I think that someone should still try to work on it for this system. at 156mhz, I can play Chrono Trigger at almost full speed with sound(sound is a little slower than the video though) when I'm not in a battle. I'm sure SOMETHING can be done to improve it. Some proper transparency would be nice too. I'd try to do it myself if I had any coding knowlege.

By the way, I think from this point forward, that's what I'm calling the new system... SPS. I didn't even think of that, Esn... that's frickin' funny.

Interesting.. so it might be the same speed as gp32 but with some extra hardware...
And since gamepark is wierd and kind lazy they'll prolly just take the processor used in gp32, solder some useful hardware to it, add a few more buttons, put it in a different case and BAM! Gameparks next console!

Btw That Sps idea is great!
