Gamepark Named Newgp32 Xgp ?

Haha, some more informations:

It seems the information at GPZigi is correct.
And it is not. HA!

Why?

Well, simply because GamePark broke up.
One company seems to be GamePark and the other one GamePark Holdings.
Mr. Hong (the one I and craig have the infos from) is from GamePark Holdings.
And WooSuk Lee (the former partner of Mr. Hong) is from GamePark, and they are developing another handheld, the XGP...

Thanks to some information from Jr2Swiss and my own eMail from Mr. Hong (who told me the reason why the broke up), this makes totally sense for me.

So, guys, we are expecting three handhelds soon:
The Ninja, the XGP from GamePark and another one from GamePark Holdings..

Geeez!

  i dunno if my bank account will appreciate that, but i do. The point is : i know ninja will be designed for homebrew, but is it the same for console for the both other side, i mean GamePark and GamePark holdind ?
just a question, if they broke up, could gamepark still be named gamepark  ?
I mean they are now two different firms isn't it ?

edit : maybe the two fake were not fake : one is the console of GamePark, and the other the one of GamePark holdinds :p

wait a minute... If there are 2 new handhelds coming out from Gamepark(at least what used to be just gamepark..), the one you can't give info about is NOT the XGP, correct? So what can you tell us about it? And what's the difference between the 2 handhelds gonna be other than name, if you can give us any kind of specific info... also, the XGP isn't the one they're supposed to be releasing info on in august, is it? When will we be getting info on the other one?

2 new handhelds from GamePark and another handheld that's entirely homebrew... The future is looking good, people. Now I just hope I can get a job so I can get some damn money to buy at least one of them.

I wouldn't be so sure it's good, Magus... I mean the GP32's list of emu developers is rather small as it is. These developers probably will pick and choose their favorite and develop for that one pretty much exclusively.. thus they are all left lacking a decent amount of support...

I might be wrong, but I can't help but think I'm probably not. :(

Hmm... well shit, I hadn't thought of it like that... Well hey, who knows...? Maybe they'll be able to get decent 3rd party support and attract more people who will eventually decide to code for them. I really hope so...

Surely the Specs and openness of these consoles will be very attractive for PSP and DS coders struggling with piracy protection and hardware limitations, so there is a good chance that there will be new talents. It's just a matter of how much.

Wait a second, Jarska... are you referring to the PSP and the DS, or the 2 new things coming out from the 2 gamepark companies? Cuz if one new gamepark thing is just a media player, what the hell's the point? The GP32 would already be a better buy because it does more.

...hmm, you must be talking about the 2 new things from GamePark becuase both the PSP and DS are consoles(PSP is a media player too, but it's still a console).

Ok so why did they break up? And who owns the current GP32?

And while you are talking to them maybe you can give some suggestions from a emu user point of view like:

We all know that it will have enough CPU speed and RAM but:

No wonky resolutions and no 16:9. It should be 320 x 240, if they MUST up ther res so that they look good on paper then 640 x 480. This way with 640 x 480 you could pixel double emulated games and not get that odd scaling distortion. Also it should be 4:3 so that you won't have either a tiny game screen or stretched out and squashed (see PSP).

Also it should be playable in both landscape AND portrait orientation. This is important to allow MAME arcade games to be played full screen and with the proper orientation (1942, Pacman etc.) This means NO wacky clamshell designs.

Also it SHOULD be backward compatible. If it isn't then why bother? If you wan't a totally new incompatible handheld that will be starting all over from scratch you may as well get a PSP or Gizmondo.

DaveC,

I think you will be happy with the design of the gamepark holdings console.

I know nothing of the other one, also its worth knowing the gamepark holdings are definitely supporting the scene with their model. Could the 'other' one be by the people who didn't give us any help with the original GP32?

This is too much, The not knowing (spec + design wise) is driving me crazy. I think i am becoming a handheld collector without realizing it.

@ bast and all you other collectors, Hope you`ve got room for three more handheld consoles.

This is great news, In a strange kind of way.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Ninja may not come out. And this new GP32 thing may come out or it may be delayed. Even if it does come out it will be quite awhile before anything comes out for it as the community is small. There is no guarantee that coders will do anything for it right away as well. Who knows it may be a year before you have to think about it.

Craig or Axeman:
Do either of you know WHY Gamepark broke up? What exactly was the difference of opinion that caused the break-up? Which people with what responsibilities ended up in which company? It's true that it always seemed that Gamepark had a conflict within itself because at times they'd do something really smart like making GPCinema free, and other times they'd miss a golden opportunity or do something really stupid (not releasing it before the GBA, missing all of those European releases, not talking well with commercial developers, etc). Also, they did stuff for the military and did website design, which seems a far cry from handheld development...

It seems like a very stupid decision to split up an already small base... does this mean that GP32X will have to cover BOTH consoles (the XGP and the SPS :p)... or, counting the Ninja, 3?
