Gamepark Named Newgp32 Xgp ?

Okay. I think it's okay to tell you that much:
GamePark broke up because one of them wanted a new, very powerful handheld with incredible system specs (which would be much more expensive, think of Zodiac).
And the other guy wanted a new handheld, which hasn't totally uber-specs, but isn't more expensive than the GP32 had been.

craig obviously seems to have more ties with the guys at gamepark holdings, so in light of that, this console will be the one with the most support i would imagine, especially since craig must have been gameparks biggest customer.

hm.... i want both ;P + the ninja.

great system specs sound good.... but cheap sounds good too... i think im going to save some money now ;P

So one wanted Uber powerful but expensive and the other wanted a balance between the gp32's power and uber power but at a similar price to the gp32 price...
Altough the ninja seems to have a pretty powerful but cheap approach, although for now it is only a dream...

But i think we can trust craig when he says that this new system will be good and not to judge it only on processor speed...

I certainly hope that these things don't launch near the same time... I still have a Nintendo DS AND a Gameboy micro to buy this year.

Ah! And then all those next-gen consoles next year...

This might be a crazy question, but craigix's comment made me wonder. Do we know that both of these consoles will be open for homebrew? The break up wasn't over that, right?

We will see. Precessor speed is king when it comes to emus though. All the 3D graphics gazoopler chips in the world aren't going to help you emulate a SNES. So sceptical we remain, until then we have the current GP32 to play around with. And if not BC then we can wait as everything will need to be done over which will take a long time.

Graphics chips CAN help you though, look at the SNES emu on the 16mhz GBA.

Now imagine the GBA ran at 20 x that speed.

Also imagine this new system was cheaper than the current GP32.

The GBA version has no sound though. Yes graphics hardware can help depending on how it is accessed and what it does. A tile engine would be helpful, a 3D engine no. We will have to see how devs can work with it.

If a newer more powerful system is cheaper than the current GP32 I wonder why they couldn't lower the price of the current one? You would think by now the GP32 would be 60 GBP or 120 USD.

Also we know that the old Gamepark is a bit lacking in finances. Now that they split they have even less money. It will be interesting to see how this works out. I still say the lack of BC would be a big mistake. Starting from scratch on a new handheld without the distribution of a Sony or Nintendo may mean things will take quite a while to get going. Maybe someone can make a GP32 emulator to run the old stuff.

or maybe they are going to be like every other gaming company and actually rely on software sales to make the bulk of the money back from system sales.

Unlikely. Noone has heard of this "Gamepark" company, and no developer is going to risk losing a lot of money making games for a system few people will buy.

They didn't rely on software sales before, I doubt they will now either.

Why do people keep insisting that Gamepark has little or no money when they make weapons for the military? Weapons companies make A LOT of money... so unless the thing about them making military weapons was a big lie, they should have an assload of money... so what the hell?

Craig, are you trying to say that the new system from Gamepark Holdings is supposed to be 320mhz? And it's gonna be cheaper than the one we have now? Why is it gonna be cheaper, and why, like someone already asked, aren't they lowering the price of the current one then? Also, can you give ANY information on the layout of the controls? Like could you tell us if it's gonna have the same joystick, a different joystick, or even a completely new design like a D-pad? What about how many buttons it has, do you know that, and can you tell us?

over the years i've been visiting this board, there has always been talk about gamepark making weapons or simulators for the korean military, but nobody has ever been able to find any evidence, that i'm aware of. So please find some, i'll only believe it when i see it.

That would probably be hard to do seeing how they're not a very well known company, and they're from korea. most likely, any results you'd find from searching for info would be in korean... and most of the time, things get really screwed up in translation... so it would be hard to understand and figure out exactly what's being said anyway... I'm not saying that I refuse to believe that they DON'T make weapons. I'm just saying that I've heard it like 10 times, if not more, and nobody has expressed any direct doubt... yet it seems like some choose to just ignore it like nobody's even saying it... I'm just a bit confused and trying to figure out exactly what's going on, that's all. And if it's not true, why the hell'd anybody ever start the rumor in the first place?

What I don't get is why would a company that makes handheld consoles dip into the military market?

The two aren't necessarily mutually exclusive but it does seem a bizarre combination, and I can't think of anybody else that does something similar.

I wouldn't expect to see Nintendo building tanks, nor would I expect to see Halliburton building handheld consoles.

Are you sure? With all of the money Halliburton has now maybe they will branch out, they may make the HB64 :p

GP made the last of the BLUs months ago, so the price is fixed. Plus the old parts they were using were costing more because of how hard they were to obtain.

Design is nice, didn't think i'd let them get away with too few buttons did you? ;) and I know digital is better ;)
