You should never expect this to happen. Adobe flash is closed source. It is known to be coded really *badly*. Besides this Adobe announced that they will stop development of their plugin for the arm plattform. So a better flash player is an illusion. And it only runs "better" on your laptop/desktop because those systems are *significantly* faster than the pandora. Yes, even there the Adobe flash plugin is known to be a resource hog that just sucks (meaning that it can easily use a complete core with several gigahertz just to display a video!).

Oh, and while you're at it: I'm sure you would also like to assemble 1000 Pandoras per month as well, wouldn't you? :)

Of course! My army of robotic manservants are marching on Germany as we speak to render aid. Please don't let them get stopped at the border, they may get a bit... testy.

I think the most likely chance of an improved Flash is a DSP driver, followed by someone other than Adobe releasing an ARM linux version.

Would it be possible to convert flash video into a stream which requires less decoding effort on an external (multicore-multiGhz x86 'desktop') computer. With a neat interface on the pandora. Would that make any difference?

EDIT - clarification: Desktop computer converts flash video and streams it to pandora client

That's good idea if that will work that will be good.

It's a shame adobe has stopped flashplugin as opensource.

Pandora units can be overclocked between 1000-1300ghz processor,i'm sure that should be fine but nowadays pc runs on i3 core processor rather than dual core and pandora has arm cortex and this processor isn't good as dual core and i3 core but arm cortex is still fast to do many things.

I have not been keeping up with the web video technologies, but do we have more luck with WebM or HTML5?

Why not using the HTML5 features available in Firefox to watch videos on YouTube? Sure, not all are compatible, but that would still help a bit. As time passes, Flash will get abandoned some day and HTML5 will become a new standard for some time for sure. As Firefox evolves, maybe we'll be able to watch higher quality videos if Firefox uses less resources? :)

What?!?!?

But...but...Adobe "promised" to make a good Flash plugin for ARM, why did they stopped? Gave they up or what happend? Sounds like they know that Flash is such a big mess, that it just would be to much work for really good ARM optimizing. :(

Why not using the HTML5 features available in Firefox to watch videos on YouTube? :)
Maybe HTML5 performs even worse than Flash when it comes to Videos etc?

dont flame on on this one, im new to firefox on pandora. but gmail doesnt work, has this always been an issue? i take it something about ssl certificates

Dude, lower the Apollo era re-entry shield, then go into about:config in firefox and set security.enable_tls to false.

I asked this before, but is it possible to make this the default in future versions since it causes such a big problem?

The HTML5 player works in this version of Firefox on the Pandora, but it doesn't seem to be any better. At 360p (the minimum resolution on the HTML5 player for some reason), videos lag like hell (something like 1 frame every 2 seconds IIRC).

It's true every time firefox updates the browser speed of video is same,ok browsing has gone faster but what about adobe flash plugin progression,we need to find solution to this.

goddammit suhki, just stfu about your damn flash player. its not going to happen

Ok i understand, don't expect videos to go any faster on youtube or any other websites.

Pandora will never be good as laptop for videos, apart from that it's gives you full experience of netbook.

.............apart from that it's gives you full experience of netbook................

Yes, and my penis really is 12 inches long. Always believe what you read!

Having said that, there's still a chance of "borrowing" flash from another system (phone or similar) and hacking around to get it working. That's the best bet - but don't hold your breath, unless you're into autoerotic asphyxiation. In that case you'll be in a real win - win scenario.

As it is, flash works great for things like betting sites. For video's we need something else, download videos for youtube and the likes using something like download helper plugin for firefox. As for live streams, I remember XBMC on my original xbox could play Justin TV streams and some other stuff. Perhaps this may be possible - if a URL ripper gave us an address and allowed us to play streams in VLC or something that would be brilliant!

Further bitching and moaning about the crappy state of flash should really be directed to adobe. Please feel free to try spamming their email address for the survey they are nagging me to fill in, despite them never having the courtesy to reply to my requests to test their shitty plugin! The email address is:

survey-reply@ti.com

Good luck!
