Drmd Gp2x Version

Hmm can't wait to get the GP2X when it gets slightly cheaper and I have the money. It's getting of to a great start.

i dunno if the gp2x'll get much cheaper, the gp32 didn't seem to.

doesn't matter though, cos DrMD probably WILL get faster :)

you guys  give reesy a break - its only the first release, I bet the code's only held together with blu-tack so far.

the linux OS has nothing to do with it really, its not like its running a load of winXP RAM-and-CPU-leaching un-stoppable-without-popping-up-again processes. ahem.... windows rant over ;)

suggestions for .ini (just floating ideas of things people would possibly need):

Mapping the controls or the buttons needed to be pressed to save/load states.

I second this idea :) Probably, .ini is better than writing a Linux script idea because of this. .ini has much more room to grow feature-wise.

Doesn't surprise me that you aren't getting them until about 3 inches away if you're running at a higher clockspeed - for me, they're visible until about a foot away from my face; at 15 inches they aren't there (and the flickering is markedly reduced).

Howe'er, doesn't change the fact that this is a brilliant emu, with a bit of flickerage or no :)

EDIT: Just clocked my unit up to 266MHz and the flickering and scanlines no longer exist - as expected

Test it with Sonic 3 and Vectorman. The GP32 struggled with those, they got real framey. On the GP2X it is very smooth.

Try Super Skidmarks for as real test of it's power. On the GP32 SS would clock in at 8fps @166mHz.

I'd be interested to hear how well it runs on the GP2X.

... Your forgetting drmdx is the 1st release for the gp2x. Give it time. perfection will come on swift wings :)

Well unless Reesy gets his Xbox 360. When that happens things may get mysteriously quiet on the coding front

wait , when you guys talk about the menu flickering you're talking about the screen with the scrolling dots in the back ground right? because I'm still on FW1.0 and I dont see any flickering.

Well concidering the manufactored "system shortage", there'll be plenty of time to code untill M$ thinks it in high enough demand to produce more. :p

Wow, this is REALLY nice, incredibly smooth :D

However, I've been having a really nasty problem with savestates and sram... four or five times now, seemingly at random, the emu will crash when trying to save sram or a savestate. When it does, the savestate / sram file becomes corrupt. It's done this to me on Shining Force II and Phantasy Star IV... I've started PSVI over thee times now

Impressive as hell none the less :D I look forward to the end of the holidays, when I'll actually have spare cash to send off to so many devs that have made the GP2X scene a great place to be.

Edit: Sorry, i forgot completely about rules governing posts and topics discussed.

Yeah you are asking completely illegal stuff that can get us in a mess here, instead of asking us, try asking google and if you ask him the right questions you might find a nice torrent, oh wait.. I didn't say that no way.

Ps: man... I sure hope my SD arrives tomorrow so I can finally try all the new stuff for my 1 week old GP2x!

I have firmware 1.0 and I get insane flickering on the menu (running at 280mhz) but no flickering when playing the games.

It runs at 21 FPS on the GP2X at the standard clock speed. It seems pretty smooth to me.

things are mad smooth at higher clockrate!
sonic and knuckles is perfect. it's blast playing games like rocket knight adventures on a handheld, despite joypad ;)

Don't have a GPX2 yet but this emulator is added incentive. Just sent 10 Cdn to Reesy as appreciation. Now if everyone who actually has a unit and the emulator would send Im sure he'd hit his target! ;)

That's really weird but I'm assuming this is and issue with the hardware, maybe some of the screens are calibrated differently. hek my battery just died while i was on the rom menu and it was smooth as silk.

Alpha2.... read the readme. The menueflicker is a known problem and couln't be settled by reesy .. it's only with the 1.0 and so it's written in the readme. :)

I run a program made by robster which looked up all the internal stuff. There's quite a difference between fw 1.0.0 and 1.0.1.

Check it out

Does anyone know another way to get in touch with Reesy and ask if he can update this great emu for use with the F-200, besides the email associated with his Paypal account?
