Release Daphne WIP

hi mcobit-

firstly, thank you for all of your work for the pandora. between daphne, gocl and panmame, you have helped me much get enjoyment out of my pandora.

here are the files that you requested. this is with the panora running SZ Final.

with SZ Final as well as with SZ b5a, daphne works well booting into the earlier kernel but not with the 3.2 kernel.

if there's anything else i can do, please let me know!

thanks again!

Thanks!

There is nothing suspicious i can find here. As it works on the older kernel, but not on the newer, I would guess that there might be a problem with the new kernel, maybe with the way it handles sdwrites or something. Strange thing is though, that the inputs don't work correctly.

Hope notaz might see this, as I have no clue where the problem is :(

Yeah right, as if the programs never have bugs that rely on some obscure system behavior?

With such amount of info here I can't really help you, it should be something like "write call blocks for 10ms when writing to SD" or "ksoftirqd eats 100% CPU during SD access", then I could start looking. I could try this myself but I have no idea how to set up this thing, or get the right ROMs/CD images/whatever.

No offense notaz, maybe it is a bug in daphne, that triggers a bug in newer kernels. Who knows. You are right. i need to investigate further. I thought that you have a spontanious idea maybe.

I have the same problem as you right now, as I haven't setup a card for this right now. Will report back, when I have more info.

But thanks for your time to reply.

Yeah, having some real problems here on my szb5a 256mb cc Pandora. Takes an *age* to start a game after inserting a credit, (ages to even get to the rom startup sequence) and then ignores (or is very erratic interpreting) the dpad controls.

D.

This reminds me of the lockup issues I was having with PewPew2 for a while. Perhaps checking the dmesg output after encountering this issue might be useful?

- Neelix

It doesn't use opengl, so I doubt it has the same problems as pewpew, but every bit of info will be useful :)

I slowly get an idea, what could be wrong here... Joystickbehaviour changed quite a bit with superzaxxon and i think i hardcoded it to joy1 and set the joystickstuff in the startupscript.

Can somebody make a folder in appdata/daphne called "scripts" and place the attached file (extract it from the zip first) into it and try again please? If it works as expected, i will update the sources and recompile for the joystick to be used as enumerated and update.

Created pandora/appdata/scripts and unziped the file in it, rebooted, nothing changed.

SZ final here.

Have a bad connection here, maybe the script is corrupted. Will DL it tonight at home.

Slow Rollin Low : thanks I'll try this tonight.

mcobit, followed your directions and daphne now seems to be working great on the new kernel. unfortunately, it didn't make me any better at dragon's lair. ;) but it is nice to be able to play it without having to boot into the older kernel. thank you so much!

to BAFelton... try pandora/appdata/daphne/scripts. that's what worked for me.

Right, of course this needs to go into the appdata of daphne.

I will release a new version when I have time.

I am an openpandora rookie who has had a brain tumor for 22 years and i do not have a clue on how to set this up or find the roms for this. would anybody be willing to zip it all up and email it to me with the advice on setting it up properly.

Whoah Dragons Lair works perfectly and smoothly with sounds on the 1ghz unit at 1250mhz.

Really enjoyable ! I had to play without sounds with 512 unit.
