Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Please stay safe, y'all

I remember, a short TV serie from a book of Stephen King called "The Stand" that I seen when I was a child, where some kind of plague killed like 80% of the global population, and the few survivors were walking/scavenging in empty cities... and I was thinking "How cool could be that !!"

...well... now that I'm one of the few that still goes physically at work, I still think that it's super cool walking in an empty city !!
No Harley Davidson around, or cars of every kind, no children shouting each others for a ball, no pedestrians speaking loud at the phone (with the obligatory speakerphone turned on so everyone in a mile can listen to their stuff)... just silence... <3

I think they aren't testing sick people at the moment, because you're supposed to stay home. Only in a hospital you could be tested.
So I assume our stats are lower then the actual numbers.

It reportedly shouldn't delay the production of units, but I'm not sure how delivery will go at the moment. If borders are more of less closed, how will the mail get through?
I think trade isn't blocked, only human travel.

We get you don't like Macron and its government, but why making it all that political?
You asked because of who people are dying. The answer is obviously the virus, not the government.
Besides the stupidity of maintaining these elections (which were by the way not in the government own interests), tell me what makes all the other European countries better than France in dealing with the virus? You probably know something we don't.

But you don't answer the question.
And at the end, people are responsible if they don't care about following orders.

And they're responsible when they do follow orders.

Anyway, at this point I'm much more concerned with the mass panic and economy than I'm with the virus. I do not personally know a single person who has the virus but I know plenty of people who are panicking or cannot travel.

The question about other countries ? If you read the whole thread, you'll see I'm talking about France.

How would you blame people over government failures ?

The answer is obviously
So, if I put you in a room.. close all the doors, lock the windows... and set fire to that room... you die because of the fire, and not because of me, and I am totally innocent?
The real question is: Why, if this winter virus is 50% less lethal than last year's... why do we have draconian measures? I mean, I get it, at the beginning we did not know what we were facing with. So measures were logical. Now that we know it's a dud... well... now it's political, not medical.

Depends on the orders....

The virus isn't that dangerous, but it can still be lethal to some people. So can the flu, but we've got vaccines for the Flu, so we can prevent deaths by usng the vaccine. For Covid, we have no vaccines, so the only way we can prevent these deaths is by limiting the spread so that the hospitals don't have more cases than they can treat.

So yeah it's political (what isn't?) but I can understand the political choice of avoiding avoidable deaths. I just wished they applied the same approach to stuff like climate change, air pollution or poverty.

So can the flu, but we've got vaccines for the Flu
True, each year we've got a coctail vaccin of last years flu's. And some virii mutate in a year, so the cocktail is sometimes not effective. But most of the times, it does work.

@klaxonn Thank you for giving your opinion. It is fun to read other's peoples views on things and think about it to form my opinion. Hope you keep posting.

and "all of a sudden" there's a lockdown
I think it means France's government was overruled by someone/some group. It might mean it is not sovereign.

I am waiting for the US to fully lock down. Individual cities/counties have done so already.

For some reason the market was pretty up today. Not sure why, given multibillion dollar industries are running to the government so they don't go under, but I suspect it is artificially inflated. For instance movie theaters have all had to shut down, and have gone to the government for a bailout....yet their stock soared today???? I have been playing with options to hedge my stock holdings as I continue to buy.

Tmobile is my winner in all this. Good fundamentals and the best of the US cellular companies positioned for 5G. They have also stepped up their timetable for the merger with sprint.

People will buy online, so money will flow in certain portions/type of companies.

I thought about people having no more income and going into agio/ease, will the bank reclaim it... ?
