If GP2X commercial games were PSP/DS Quality, what would you pay?

theres no way this system will ever see one game of equal quality to a Nintendo DS first party title. Maybe a PSP game, but that's because they all suck.

About the only PSP port I would be willing to fork over money foi at this point would be Lumines. I haven't been at all interested in any of the 3D PSP games so far.

I would love to see some GBA/DS ports though. I would probably pay a little (maybe $15-$20 CDN) for a download of those.

I'd love to see some of the PSP games ported over to the GP2X. Not only because of the fact that some of the PSPs games ARE good, but also because I could wave my GP2X with the game in front of the faces of my friends who spent $250 for a PSP. ;P

HeHe, Agreed. (I can see the look on their faces now)

Fact: The psp has one game over 9 on IGN's ratings
Fact: The DS has 8

Fact: IGN likes the PSP better

Fact: I own a PSP, DS and a GP2X.
Fact: I enjoy games on all of them.

I'd prefer a boxed game myself; something about paying for a download doesnt sit well with me ... too many ways to mess up something and again, if I happen to lose the game to an SD crash, I'm screwed.

I'd pay anything, depending on the game... ;)
A funny idea: How about adding an opion to pay too much for a game? The developer may decide to sell the game at a minimum price of 15 €uros. You can then buy the game at that price, or, if you absolutely love the game, pay more for it. There should also be the option to add more money later, if you discover late that you love the game. No idea if such a system would work, if it would bring in more money and what would happen if a developer offered a game at a minimum price of 1 €uro but it would certainly be an interesting experiment. :)

athough i would like to pay the least (and voted so), i would in effect, pay the normal on-line price as i already do for PSP/DS.

P.S.
there are many downloadable on-line PC games i.e. stuff from Big Fish Games (http://www.bigfishgames.com/index.html) any chance those would be made for GP2x?

I would pay up to $30 USD for a boxed game and $0 for a download game if it is locked to a single unit. The usual bit about the games that won't work in the future if the unit that the games are locked to breaks etc. applies here. If you buy alot of games it adds up fast. I don't want to throw hundreds of dollars away. It is nice to have everything on one card but I will sacrifice that for something that I know I can use forever.

Hey people,

i am actually considering into porting our games (smartphones) for the GP2X into commercials terms. Do you think it worth it ?

Take a look here : www.magic-productions.fr

Its port of great amiga games.

Voted 14.99 download (not interested in boxed), but that's only for top quality games, not badly done ports of 10 year old stuff. I'd really like to see games for download in the range of £5 to £15 as I'd be more than happy to pay around £5-£10 for shareware quality games.

I voted for 14.99 (UKP) Download, 19.99 (UKP) Boxed

I was basing this on some of the games we had for GP32 and stuff maybe better but not perfect

I might pay more, upto £20, maybe even £25... but for that price I'd expect high-quality commercial games, if it'd be a bestseller on another platform for instance...

I guess it all really depends on the games... there are PS1/PS2 games i am/was happy paying £30+ for, and there are others at that price I would pay £5 for...

£25 boxed would be my max I think... and I'd HIGHLY prefer DRM'd to the SD card than DRM to the machine...

I bet the first one that comes with a replacement joystick will make a bomb :)

I agree, I wouldnt mind paying a few extra £ for a stick that controlling easier... although I'm sure Craig said he was working on getting some new sticks designed and made?

I'd love to see a nice RPG on the GP2X, or a really good racing game :D

Hrmmm ... I'm not sure, because there is or will be amiga emulators that will be able to play the games you already ported (another world, cannon fodder, nebulus ...). In fact, nebulus and another world are already wip if i remember well !
Of course, it would be illegal to play these games with an emulator <_< But I think that if you want gp2x owners to be honest and buy your ports, they will have 1) to be very cheap 2) to have something more than the original version (like enhanced graphics)

Yep, thats totally true.

For Nebulus I havent put the enhancement we have made (except the water).
And for Another World we have developed very closely to make a new deluxe edition (the most beautiful, much more than the crappy 3DO version ). I was more thinking about them.

I really hope that UAE will run on the GP2X but as you know its a very complex machine and I doubt to see something running full speed with sound. Watching Arte on GP2X... my dream ! :D

Well dont know what to do then :)

It seems to me that those talking in dollars are least prepared to pay as much. Is this because retail prices do not include tax in the US (or is that just Canada ?) but craigix is talking UK prices where tax is included. Either way, do they suffer the same level of tax?

Surely this is going to skew the results. This needs to be taken into account.

We are not voting on how much software should cost, we are telling commercial producers if we are prepared to support commercial games. They are not going to sell at a loss because of how we vote.

I voted for 14.99 (UKP) Download, 19.99 (UKP) Boxed - because I'm a cheapskate.

I wouldn't call it cheapskate £15 per buy for downloads is gonna be a fair bit of money if enough people buy it, the thing that bugs me about consoles is how they start at £40 and in a few weeks its £30... then a few more weeks and its £20... its annoying

thats not the point. You just said the ds has better graphics than the psp. That just isn't true. No one said anything about gameplay quality or the 'better' system. Just correcting what you said ;)

anyway, I would pay like 30 US dollars boxed no doubt. I just hope the games are decent *hopes*
