Hi,

I have been watching the gp2x with interest from the start of this year, and
since I still have 2 amigas (sadly to be dumped very soon), it appeals to me.

I was planning to buy from gp2x.co.uk, but I've mailed and phoned
twice this week and haven't been able to get a response.
Does anyone know if they are still trading or is it a holiday week ;-) ?

Here were my questions: (although Im getting some answers by scouring the forums)

---
I was about to place an order for a gp2x and a bob.

Can you clarify a few things, please

Is the 275Mhz one just an overclocked Mk II 200/240 or
a newer processor ?

On the current model you are selling as the 275Mhz one:
- Is it a Mark II with the 5v on the ext port (usb) ?
- whats the firmware version
- what colour is it? pics on the site seem to be of black or white

On the Break-out-box:
- Does the bob incorporate the functionality of the TV-out lead ?
ie s-video (4 pin) and 2 phone L+R

Can the BOB power the gp2x, or do I need 2 x 3.3v adaptors?
---

Dumping amigas??? NOOOOOOO! ;)

Sell them on ebay or offer to give them away but don't dump them...

Anyways, 275mHz model is the same as the 240mHz model, just some processors can overclock higher in software than others. gp2x.co.uk have started testing them out and seperating the ones that clock higher.

I believe gp2x.co.uk only sell mkII models with firmware 2.0 at the moment and only in black, white ones never got released only a few prototypes were white as far as I know.

The bob can be powered by the gp2x on the mkII and will allow you to do tv out.

It will be an overclocked version.

I believe that all new GP2Xs are MkII and have been for a while.

As the site says, the Power Pack version is the same as the Value Pack, i.e. it will come with Firmware 2.0.

There are only black GP2Xs available at the moment.

The top picture on the info page about the breakout board shows the two audio connectors and the S-video socket.

The breakout board can not power the GP2X. MkII GP2Xs may be able to power the breakout board though. Otherwise you will need 2 x 3.3v adaptors, though most commonly people use 3.0v adaptors which work just fine.

Ok,

I pretty much thought those were the answers, but I wanted it from the
horse's (distributors) mouth.

I really want the holy grail of devices -
powered usb host port + wireless + everything the gp2x already does

but the gp2x is looking the best so far.
no sign of the xgp yet?

I'm still waiting on a reply from gp2x.co.uk
and I'm not confident about placing an order until I know
there is someone there!

ala CDisplay) for the gp2x ?

there is somone there, maybe they have a backlog of emails ?
i ordered mine on a thursday and it came on friday morning (paid £4.50 for postage and £4.50 of stamps were on it, possibly the best online shopping experience ive had)

Hi there,

I run gp2x.co.uk and, well, people have answered your questions already on here :)

You should get a reply via email too though.

Thanks,

Craig

PERFECT PLACE TO BUY, I CAN GET IT ALL ONE STOP SHOPPING! GLAD I FOUND THIS!

For the record, I got a reply from both Craig and Debs.
Just ordered my GP2X + BOB

Craigix, what is the difference between the regular and overclocked versions of the GP2X on your site?

Craig is the one from gp2x.co.uk visiting these boards and he's currently in Korea.
That's why you probably won't see an answer so soon ;)

Well, do all GP2Xs have the ability to reach 275 MHz, or are the OCed ones guarenteed to reach that speed?

So I ordered the 270Mhz one. I haven't received it as yet.

(I don't think the problem is with gp2x.co.uk but I ordered on Saturday for 24Hr Delivery
It was shipped Monday, but didn't arrive Tuesday - damn postal service, no doubt it will
arrive tomorrow when I'm out and be returned to depot unsigned for, which will take
another day for me to collect ...rant...)

I believe that gp2x.co.uk test units for stability at 270Mhz and essentially separate out the good ones.
At least I hope that's why I'm paying extra.

Also, got an email saying that there may be a new addon with a keyboard on sale
within weeks.

Managed to track my parcel down and collect it this evening.
gp2x.co.uk did what they said on the tin...
