Is DrMD, DOOM, SCUMMVM, Castaway (and any other very demanding emulators) playable (doesn't appear to be at all slow in the gameplay) at 133Mhz?

Thanks, this is very important, I'm asking this because I at last have the money to buy a new GP32 and I'm not sure about the new release of DrMD (also my old GP underclocked meaning I've never actually played anything at 133Mhz properly).

Thanks

-Tom

I always thought that 133MHz was the minimum. DrMD is playable at 133Mhz, it just uses a higher frameskip than at 166MHz. Personally I would add a bit more (if possible) and get a certified 166.

DrMD at 133Mhz is fine for RPG's or strategy games. But for action games you want to OC at least to 144Mhz. Or I guess you could turn sound off and play action games at nice frame rates at 133Mhz.

Personally I rarely OC beyond 144Mhz with DrMD, mainly because my rechargeable batteries burn out really fast at 156 or 166Mhz. And DrMD is extremely playable with decent/good frame rates at 144Mhz for many games.

As for buying a new GP, most likely it can OC beyond 133Mhz somewhat. It's definitely worth the money to get one guaranteed to OC to 166Mhz. A lot of emus can make really good use of speeds over 133Mhz.

Ask Aiken of GPGames if he has some second hand unit to sell: he will tell you if it is a BLU/BLU+ and if it overclocks.

I bought a great BLU/166Mhz unit from him, and it is perfect: you only have to pay 20 euros for standard shipping in Europe
...but it's worth it.

Even if he wasn't a scammer did he not go through the hassle of getting everything back?

I personally believe that he was a scammer, that maybe the buyer would not do anything if he got scammed, until that thread that just popped up with accusations of his scamming ordeals.

Just to clear his name, maybe buy some time to sell more stuff? I dont know, what I remember though is the other scammer tried to defend himself a little then just vanished.

133Mhz is too slow for most fancy stuff (DrMD, Castaway, Lynx)

It depends on the game though.

Doom is fine.

SCUMM is fine

If you can get away with 144Mhz then stuff runs ok in DrMD again depends on the game and how much sound it has.

Ahh thanks. Turns out I've got to wait till after my exams to buy it anyway so I'll definatly have the money. And if Jamie actually buys my guitar I'll also have money for four new cheapo SMC's from ebuyer, meaning a total of six. :D
