    Any Reason I Shouldn't Buy A Gp2x Now?

heh, this seems to have turned a bit into a fanboy ranting thread  :P yeah no point taking it too seriously. anyways, reason to hold off buying a gp2x: firmware upgrades - if you buy one later it'll always have the latest firmware i guess. so no need to take your gp2x's life...

Possibly One Of The Worst Things...

hmm.. same here. the closest i've done, was opening up a 3.25 floppy, so that I could stare at a partial solar eclipse through the plastic disk bit, but only for a few seconds as it doesn't have any UV-filter

    GP32 Project

so... err... you've got 2 gba's already. and are still willing to pay someone to write a gba emulator? wow. i don't get it

    Mamegp2x

that's a fair question. I think the answer is to do with the fact that the arcade 'ROM' isn't necessarily just one 'chunk' of stuff, but several sets of memory dumps from various address ranges, or from different chips, all kinds of bits and pieces, various extra bits of information like...

    White Gp2x ?

yeah. I'm pretty sure only the black ones have been sold so far - the white one must have been a prototype. So, this ebay seller has just cut 'n' paste the whole sales-pitch from some website and is just after a fast buck. I've no idea why ANYONE would want to buy from this guy anyway, as he is...

Waiter, Theres A Hair In My Gp2x!

yeah, I managed to get the screen cover on with NO dust underneath, and was feeling mighty pleased with myself. I always keep it in the plastic bag thingy that it came wrapped in, and yet after a few weeks, Ive suddenly noticed... there's DUST under the cover. how the *&%$ did that get there...

    Total Disorganization

exactly! I've been guilty of this myself many times :) though, in this case 'lazy' is a relative term. these dev's are working for the love of it, and producing some fantastic ports, and homebrew creations, in their free time, just because they want to. so we gotta cut them a little slack.

    Mame Wont See Roms

you do realise that mamegp2x is mame version 0.34, right? any games not supported by that version won't run. you can't run ps2 games on it either :P edit: yeah, i know, I'm a sarky git. couldn't resist :)

Name Your Favourite/best '3d' Dungeon Romps!

Captive (Amiga, PC too i think) absolutely wicked sci-fi sequel to dungeon master, and prequel to 'liberation' which feddon already mentioned. has 65000 levels, apparently. I got to about level 7  Bards Tale series (on loadsa platforms, mine was c64) - actually had another go of this...

    Atari Lynx Emu Problems

I'm having trouble running handy2x, the lynx emulator. I have checked the config file, made sure I have put everything in the correct directory, and that all the specified dirs exist on the sd card, and that it is all lower-case etc. I get as far as the rom requester, but whichever rom I...

    Mame Gp2x 1.1

yeah, great job, franxis :) i've just sent you a donation, as i fully suppport the open source principle, and that's a really great job you've done on the mame port, so far. i occasionally messed around with the gp32 version, but now on the gp2x, it's really come into its own, as there is so...

    Fuckin' Spontaneous Bricking

format your SD card before putting it in the GP2X. If it still f's up, then send it back to where you bought it from for a fix... or if you're feeling adventurous, try the 'unbricking' guide. nothing to lose: it's already broken  It keeps things simpler if you buy the gp2x AND the sd...

    Firmware Update Fun

yep, as long as its already formatted it should be fine. you don't need a firmware update on the SD card. As you haven't received your unit yet, it will probably arrive with the latest firmware already on it, so you shouldn't need to go through any firmware flashing nonsense for a while yet :)

    Usb Doesn't Work

that's not good. What platform are you using? I'm not totally sure about this because I'm still on Win98, so I only use a card reader and not USB direct connection (win98 doesn't have the necessary USB mass storage driver needed), but I believe that for USB to work properly you need WinXP or...

What Is With The Gp2x? Is It Junk?

yep it has problems. but, I still think it is absolutely fantastic! All I can say is, it is THE best handheld for me. Being an open platform is truly revolutionary, and this shows in the amazing results already. there are many well-explored discussions as to why open source is far preferable...

    GP2X Amiga Emu

hehe. this subject just isn't gonna die, is it? people just can't seem to accept the possibility that their beloved amiga might not be coming to live on a gp2x! anyway, I'm still of the opinion, for anyone who won't let it lie, that "you want it that bad, go ahead and write it" - then you'll...

Tomorrow's The Big Day, But Unno What To Put On It

I've just tried out BubbleX and its great! also my 4yr old son saw me playing and wanted a go so I let him. now he loves it as well, even though he can't even control the joystick properly :D it's only his third-ever computer game, after 'Bubbles' on Mame, and Mario64

    Gp2x Emulators: Are They Buggy?

also, which no one has mentioned, c64 emulation is excellent with Frodo: full speed, great sound quality, no frameskip, and really good compatibility.
