All The Rechargeables You Could Ever Want

ooh! * dreams of huge array of gp2x's all running 24/7 with different games. A huge nuclear power plant in the back yard constantly churns out newly charged batteries to feed this guzzling network of power hungry beasts. there's me, not having to go to work, just staying at home all day...

    New Firmware 1.3

basically, we've been round and round the arguments for/against GPL and why it exists, and all the misunderstandings don't EVER get resolved. nobody changes their mind, or accepts anyone else's point of view. it's a waste of time.

    1gb Sd Card Ruined

now that's a GREAT idea! how about it, GPH?

    Mame

thing is, the original mame guys state that 'playability' is just a nice side effect, and that their number one priority for MAME (ie. like its "prime directive") is 'accuracy' of emulation, in terms of accurately emulating all the functionality as much as possible, and sod the performance ;)...

So, Say Gph Released A Sequel...

I can think of lots of essential things they left out of the design: - blue-ray disc support - support for 3d-holographic projection, like R2D2. - a toaster. - a motorised 'tilt' attachment, like space harrier in the arcades; - a chocolate biscuit vending machine. - lasers. - a tractor beam. -...

    GP32 Java....

ermm.. yes. and no. java looks like C++, but it works in a whole different way underneath. Doesn't matter for simple stuff, but once you get into anything more advanced its good to fully understand how each of them work, and it can make a BIG difference. It is definitely worth learning a bit...

    Favourite Racing Game On Gp2x?

yeah powerdrift! but there is no support in mame at all, any version, as far as I know. you'd need a port of 'final burn' or something. doh.

    Recieved My Gp2x...scratched

yeah. it got me too, when I got mine. i think i just picked at it in a sort of vain hope that the scratches weren't really on the screen itself, and just maybe there was some kind of removable invisible layer and... tadaa! maybe its gph's idea of a little joke.

    Did You Know...?

squidge thanks for the info. and looking at a few of the responses... welcome to 'pedantic friday' B) so a quick question: what commands are needed?

    Whos Excited For Tomorrow?! (friday)

hmmm... yes, i like it! Maybe I'll make a 'Shrubbery Edition'. I don't know anything at all about the workings of the firmware, but i'm sure I could hack in a few extra bugs, by randomly changing some variable names  come on GPH, release the source, so that I can have a go at mangling it...

    Joystick

doh! why oh why did they make it a 16-way stick? with built in 'slippiness' and 'deadzone'. I love my gp2x, but, goddammit that was a silly thing to do  the stick on the original gp32 was just perfect for me. and it was nice and 'clicky', like an arcade stick :)

    Mame

you mean 'clrmamepro'. its not always the easiest app to use, but its the one you need for this. if you do a search for 'clrmamepro' on the forum, i think there's probably a load of threads on it already, if you get stuck.

    Windows 95 On The Gp2x

I was looking at this thread, and thinking: "win95. WTF? why?" and then I remember reading an article about someone who managed to make a working RAID-array out of a stack of about 10 floppy disk drives, and I realised that the answer is simple: "because you can!" :D

The Another Try To Improve Gp2x's Stick

what an interesting idea! that really is thinking out of the box. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems that to get the lowest latency overall, the best setup would be as you said: to have the latency at zero for ordinals, and 'some' for diagonals. I guess there's even more room for tweaking...

Buying A Gp2x.. What Are The Current Problems?

i guess, if you're in the US then GP32Z is the one, but I've no idea if they're any good. I'm in the UK, so i got mine from GBAX, who are great (which is now gp32.co.uk) - run by craigx who you often see on the forum.

    Where Is The Firmware

seconded. it's not up for discussion. its been discussed ad-nauseam but that changes nothing about the situation. trying to justify one position or another changes nothing. if you don't agree with the GPL ideology, don't participate in it. I don't want to see gph be shut down OR for them to...

    Mame Confusion

yeah it can be a real pain. and if it doesn't work then ... um... you've got a problem  . Apart from 'acquiring' a different dump of the rom, I don't know if there are any other options.
  20. S

    Mame Confusion

it can be confusing! but it's not really. First: you can't ask about where to find roms. that's against forum rules for obvious reasons. You CAN ask about converting roms you already have: Second: the different numbers refer to different release versions of mame. The gp2x port of mame is based...
