Is Gp2x.co.uk A Dodgey Online Store?

There was no real documentation of the hardware, and for the most part, there still isn't. As a serious developer you have to own a GP2X to grasp what it can and can't do fully. The extremely limited (and false) info Craig gave me to convince me and the rest of our team to develop for the...

Get Gabe And Tycho A Gp2x?

Considering their comic mocked the GBA and GBA-SP I'm pretty sure they'd tear the GP2X apart in their comic. That's not good publicity if you tell lots of people about a system, but the first thing you say is that it's a terrible piece of shit.

Is Gp2x.co.uk A Dodgey Online Store?

Actually, the flame wars are the high points.

Is Gp2x.co.uk A Dodgey Online Store?

No, but I'm sure we can have all sorts of fun coming up with fake names for them. I'm fond of Captain G.G. Spank and Eric Q. Porkenfrost XVI, personally.

Is Gp2x.co.uk A Dodgey Online Store?

Like the one who refuses to post here due to the low quality of discussion (I think reading flamewar threads I take part in is some sort of peculiar spectator sport for him, not that I blame him), or the one who I chose not to use his name for lack of his permission, who then promptly thanked me...

Is Gp2x.co.uk A Dodgey Online Store?

This is typical. They usually take forever to do just about anything; people have been waiting an eternity for Payback and before that they waited an eternity for Vektar. I can't relate to such patience, I'd have demanded a refund if it wasn't shipped the first week and/or if I didn't receive it...

No prob. Sorry that it isn't better news.

New Squidgesnes & Picodrive Are Out

The games I'd play most, Sonic CD and Ecco 1/2 CD, are nothing without their music, really. So I couldn't tolerate it. None of the MMSP2's IDE connectivity lines are wired to anything (pity) so you have to use USB-- but there's only USB 1.x available, which is very slow. Not to mention that the...

I Got Gpsp (gba) Running With Sound!

It looks choppy and strange. Line thicknesses on sprites are non-uniform and inconsistent. Honestly I'd rather have it letterboxed. But if I had to pick some form of scaling it'd be nearest-neighbor with no HQ*x filter, because the framerate loss will just be too dramatic.

I Got Gpsp (gba) Running With Sound!

Such methods work a lot better on analog video handling hardware than digital-- such shortcuts rarely look even close to as nice. You're probably going to be looking at some sort of nearest-neighbor scaling or running it letterboxed for acceptable performance. Getting it close to 60 FPS is going...

I Got Gpsp (gba) Running With Sound!

Scaling without any sort of filtering will completely defeat the purpose of using Hq2x and probably make the result image look pretty terrible. The hardware scaler also does not produce pretty results. I remain confident the 940T won't be up for the task, honestly. Look at Flash, which is...

New Squidgesnes & Picodrive Are Out

Pretty much the entire point of the Mega CD/Sega CD was the audio. The games were often just ports of MD games with new audio, like Ecco 2 (Ecco 1 had some new levels)-- unless you count some FMV videos. The audio added a whole new dimension, and going without would be completely defeating the...

I Got Gpsp (gba) Running With Sound!

Running Hq2x over the frame would be a big job even for the 920T to do, and then tack on bilinear scaling and it's far more work-- especially EVERY frame at 60 FPS (even 30 is pushing it.) Also, it's vector-based, and will probably rely heavily on floating point calculations. In short, I'd...

New Squidgesnes & Picodrive Are Out

It's possible both 68000s interoperate since their functions could've been specifically delegated by the hardware they supported, communication facilitated by arbiters (the MD contains one arbiter already which does appear to allow communication between the 68K and MCD-edge connector-attached...

    Changes To Gpx2?

I didn't mention flickering, I mentioned out of sync drawing to the display, causing scanlining. Resistor issues causing flickering were on the first batch of MK1.

    Changes To Gpx2?

The issue isn't a problem with the firmware-- the MagicEyes LCD controller (within the MMSP2/MP2520F) is incompatible with the MK1 LCD, resulting in out-of-sync operation and 'scanlining'. The MK2's display is compatible but has its own (less serious) issues, like the rather small viewable range.

    Gp2x Dead!?!?!

Try powering it from the AC brick without batteries inside. The system behaves erratically when 2 power sources are present. Also are you trying to power it THROUGH the breakout board? This won't work; the GP2X and board need their own power bricks.

New Squidgesnes & Picodrive Are Out

Amon_Re: I seriously wouldn't get your hopes up, unfortunately. There isn't likely enough CPU horsepower to emulate both 68000s (one of which is 50% faster than the MD's existing 68000, which is one of the more taxing parts of the emulation), plus the Z80, the MegaCD's custom video hardware will...
