    Gp2x Value Pack Launched!

I didn't move to the PSP, but the stick was the deciding factor in my choice not to continue working on projects for the GP2X. There were plenty of other reasons, most of the system's other problems, while very suboptimal and freedom-limiting, aren't necessarily fatal to the enjoyability of the...

The Gpx2 Will Have Maaaany Programs

That all depends on if the graphics code is old, slow C or custom ARM9 ASM-- it may be the same speed, or slower, than existing GP2X SNES emulators. Using the 940T could help somewhere, potentially, but '2dchip'..? The GP2X's '2d accelerator' does extremely little for emulator performance. That...

    Gp2x Cant Does ....

That makes a lot of sense. I guess that's why asian PDAs so frequently make their way to the states (Not just Samsung, ASUS also goes to mind..) The GP2X is in no way useful as a PDA, however, so it would never 'out compete the USA PDA makers'. It doesn't even have a touchscreen and the only PDA...

Wait For The Xgp Mini Or Dive Into A Gp2x?

Pretty unlikely. More programs will use the 940T in some form or fashion, but 'most' emulators using it is unlikely. Parallelizing code for the GP2X's otherworldly multiprocessor configuration is very tricky, and I can see most developers not wanting to get involved with it. At any rate, the...

Wait For The Xgp Mini Or Dive Into A Gp2x?

Haha, whio's lying? Most GP2X emulators are based on PC Linux emulator source ported to the '2x with optimizations. Since both systems likely will run the same OS (Linux), porting will be easy. Bringing over 90%+ of GP2X software, or more, will be effortless. But making the software take full...

Wait For The Xgp Mini Or Dive Into A Gp2x?

6 months is pretty doubtful. If the OS is indeed Linux, as I strongly believe it will be, porting most emulators will take very little time. Fully utilizing the graphics hardware is a different story, but with a faster CPU and memory subsystem there will be performance improvements 'out of the box'.

Wait For The Xgp Mini Or Dive Into A Gp2x?

GamePark's stated they aren't married to the original price estimates. They'd like to make the price as low as possible while keeping the machine technically competitive. I strongly suspect they can take the price much lower, especially with some suggestions I've made regarding reducing the...

Wait For The Xgp Mini Or Dive Into A Gp2x?

What is it you most want to do on the system? That will have a big impact on how much the GP2X's issues and the XGP's advantages would affect you. Equal thanks, if not more so, for the civility of your response. :)

    Who's Dev'ing For This Machine?

Some hardware GP is considering won't be out of date for years to come. I wish I could give you specifics, but I'm not at liberty to. So, I guess you'll have to take my word on that. Bear in mind, however, hardware advancements in the ultraportable consumer electronics scene have not been racing...

Wait For The Xgp Mini Or Dive Into A Gp2x?

Battery life is worse than it should be. While I won't say 4 hours average is a bad thing, a '200 MHz computer' based on an ARM9 processor that uses thousanths of a watt should get much better battery life. The issue there is that MagicEyes' implementation of the processors and accessory...

    Who's Dev'ing For This Machine?

Well, you'll be waiting a while longer I'm sure since 'proving' they are serious about development is no doubt low on their list of priorities. If anything, they regret the delays involved in bringing the original XGP design to the public. Their goal now is to release GPKiDS, then select the...

Wait For The Xgp Mini Or Dive Into A Gp2x?

My apologies in advance for the length of this post, but I'd like to be as thorough as possible in my response and address a few misconceptions about GP's goals with the machine while I'm at it. :) GamePark has stated they will be making the systems fully open to homebrew development-- and that...

    Who's Dev'ing For This Machine?

They've already said they expect to be releasing the XGP in 2007, after the GPKiDS is 'out the door', and that most of its design is ready, and the remainder of what is to be done involves selection of an exact SoC. Beyond that aspect I'll have to ask for the OK before saying more, but I've...

Gp2x As A Portable Hackers Tool.

I've found myself doing a lot of scouting for WiFi on my DS using DS2Key. It has a nifty packet capture function where you can view the packets' contents on any channel in hex and ASCII on the top display. I suppose the only real obstacle to being serious hacker's tools is lack of a keyboard and...

    New Avatar!

I have an obscure Japanese DSL provider. I last used AOL in .. hmm, 1995. They make you sign a thing when you sign up that says you won't expect to run any game servers from your connection, because your IP isn't static, and isn't even unique.

Sure; but what is it you want to know exactly?

Gp2x As A Portable Hackers Tool.

He had a card with a ribbon cable on it ('please insert your stolen card now') and he was brute-forcing the PIN. It was a bit before USB's time. ;)

RAR Ahahaha. What have I done recently that even begins to qualify as trolling. Screwing around with you guys in those ludicrious Ultra GP2X Fanboy Battles is getting old. BTW, it'd be a bad idea especially to IP-ban me. My IP is used by thousands of subscribers to my ISP, so they'd be fucked...

    Who's Dev'ing For This Machine?

No need to be so melodramatic. Again, I e-mail them all the time and nearly always get a response, and so have others on this very forum so I must assume the issue is something on your end, or there's just something tying up Nathan at GP and you'll get a late response probably with an apology...

I see no avatars. EDIT: until I post a reply. This happens on another invision forum I use, too. How strange.
