Release GoatTracker

Big let down!

I thought it was an application for finding lost livestock with GPS...

;)

I thought my derailing goat joke was better..

Funnily enough an entire thread derail was deleted from here earlier, and it started much like that. :D

There is hereby a ban on goat jokes!
Trashy mg was in no way the principial offender in said derailment. I have never heard the name Titan uranus and perish the thought of my involvement. The ancient art of goat tracking in the dark of night is known only to a select few.

I have to say, out of the few trackers we have, this one feels the most at home on the Pandora. Nice port. :)

Tip for anyone who enjoys SID/chiptunes: Don't worry about whether you're a music maker or not. Fire this up, hit F10 to load one of the sample tracks, then F1 to play it. (F4 to stop, F12 for other options.) You will dig it. You might even be tempted to tweak things...

One thing I think Cadaver missed was putting a few sample instruments in there - however, you can save instruments from loaded songs and import them into new songs.

Let me know if you think it's worth remapping a few of the keys

I did fumble around looking for start & stop keys - naturally I went for the gaming controls. But I wouldn't want ABXY remapped, as their default mapping is quite useful here. I see Alt and Ctrl are not used, so could we make use of Start and Select?

Start could duplicate F2 - play from current position (I'm thinking that would be the handiest play function for composition), and Select could duplicate F4 - stop.

Actually, when you're in the pattern editor, Ctrl+Left/Right let's you change which pattern you're editing.

I think one combination I'm going to have to look at changing is "+/-" for instrument selection. Maybe to the shoulder buttons?

Edit: Wow, didn't know you can use < & > to change pattern you're editing. There's a hell of a lot of key mappings in this app  :)

Oh, that help screen is way longer than I thought!
Yeah, I just figured out you could scroll it too!

I did notice in my PC directory, I have a "gt2stereo", which actually allows for 6 SID tracks to be played simultaineously, I'm wondering if it's worth porting that instead? There's very few examples with that, but it can load the other songs, they just play out of one ear.

I'm also going to package up a few instruments in the next release
