Fpse For Gp32!

Gotta wonder if the same technique could be applied for x86 emulation in due course, although somehow I doubt it, unless it gets done as an open source app for palm PCs also with ARM CPUs.
It'd be darn nice if it could, though...

But I'm trying to run before I can walk, of course...

BTW: As a side-note, I remember someone telling me they'd made a universal dynarec emulator - which emulated by looking at its OWN exe and then worked out how to recompile others from other systems for the one it was on. I think it was Rlyeh. But that was for PC, *not* for GP32, and the only conversion table he got round to doing was a speccy one

Yeah Chris Hames was a bit of a Genius alright. Is this method the same as JIT (for example UAE?)

Yes UAE uses (now I think) the same method...
WinUAE is a really good "high" tech emu that also uses 68K graphics drivers that directly hits the native gfx drivers via WinUAE and DirectX I believe...
Really cool work actually...

A decent coder can make a hell of a difference to a systems limits. Back in the early days of c64 coding all games were limited to I believe 8 sprites (Commodores harware limit if I remember correctly) A few years later and coders were producing games with 32 and even 64 sprites on screen at once.

If this guy is really good then he could pull it off. Give the man a chance before moaning it'll never happen.

I guess there are two types of GP32 owners. Optimists and Pessimists. I guess I'm one of the first bunch. As for the other bunch maybe they should stay quiet until the project fails then they can come in here and say I told you so.

The problem is that the pessimists would term themselves realists....

Personally, I'm an optimistic sceptic; I don't hope for things in case they don't happen, but don't look for problems when they do.

Well according to the how old are you poll I've been an IT professional for longer than many of you have been walking the earth and I've seen many strange seemingly impossible things happen in the world of IT both hardware and software wise.

When I first started work our mainframe computer had 64K of memory and was the size of a wardrobe. I used to show school kids around and they used to suck in their breath when I showed them an 80 meg disk pack. Now I carry more storage than that on my Clie and if you'd told me I'd be carrying a pocket computer with 16 mb memory and 128 meg storage back then I'd have called you an idiot. So when it comes to this emulator I just say wait and see. Stranger things have happened.

As Confusious or some other bright spark once said.

"Whether you are an optimist or a pessimist you will still arrive at the same point. The difference is if you are an optimist you will have enjoyed the journey."

He didn't mention realists ;)

Blimey I sound like me Dad ;)
