I concede that it is most likely a fake. But looking back through these forums there is no proof.

The only reason ppl can give for it being a fake is that the GP32 can't handle it. But on the GP64 site they say their only trying to push the limits of the GP32, not create a playable emu.

It's an interest side to the human psyche that many ppl wanted to see an N64 emu (at any speed), but automaticaly belive this one to be fake because it must be to implausible.

Me on the other hand, i'm not going to be disapointed or excited untill i'm shown some proof.

i also believe that it could be possible - of course not fullspeed and not all games. but i think something like an "test-emulator" that can play some games or some parts of games at lets say 1 FPS ;) is not impossible

its a 100% deffinate fake dude. i could slap together a site like that and just say im pushing the gp to its limits. a few reasons include:
  • The ram is 2 small, u need to fit the enitre rom into the ram to play it.
  • its an n64! as in 64 bit! the gp32 is only 32 bit!
  • Look at how long its taking to get even things like a genesis emu playable and thats only 16 bit running at around 5mhz i think. the n64 clocks about 100mhz iirc.
get over it! its not real!

How many colours can the GP32 handle on screen at the same time? The 'screenshots' this guy has posted equates to 32335 although they are Jpegs so this may not be accurate...

As much as I would like one, I have a feeling it isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Also bear in mind the recpetion that the GC emu got for the PC (I think it was called dolphin). The poor gut had to release a demo to prove it...
 
yep..16 million sounds about right. I was trying to say that if these were straight screenshots, would the GP32 be able to handle 32335 unique colours on screen at the same time....

In fact people haven't invented a 64 bit computer yet... 64 bits stands for the number of electrical lines running in a single wire in the computer or portable gaming unit and I don't think that we are able to do that yet. Since the N64 is at least 6 years old I can guarentee you that it is not a 64 bit console. :ph34r:

i quess your laptop is a pentium or amd-processor - you cant compare a CISC-processor to a RISC-processor that easily. the arm9 processor at 166 MHz is maybe faster than a 300 Mhz pentium - if its integer-calculations. if its floating point calculations then its a little different since the gp32 has no FPU

So you want proof that a emulator which hasnt got any proof that it has been developed exists? Way to contradict yourself.

Why the hell would someone waste their time creating a complex software 3d engine, a n64 code interpreter, all on a 166mhz ARM handheld without a floating point? Noone would, the website is fake.

No, that isnt what it means you retard. The processor is fully 64bit, as is the graphics processor. Basically it can process bigger sized instructions than a 32 bit cpu, along with a few other advantages. And "we" can't do that? Buy a fucking Opteron or Athlon 64 you idiot, they both have 64 bit instruction sets. The Itanium is a fully 64 bit processor.

N64 and PSX will never be emulated at full speed, even if optimised to buggery. Same goes with Saturn, 32x, Jaguar, GBA, and IBM PC (although if someone can be bothered, an underpowered PC emulator may be possible, wont be able to run stuff like Doom, or even Wolf 3D though. However, don't expect it to ever materialise.).

oh rite :) didnt realise that. whats the ps2 and xbox etc then?

I thought theyd just started to relese 64bit processors for desktops but there was no software to support it yet :huh:. or am i thinking about 32 bit? :blink:

I did say, "I concede that it is most likely a fake". One of many reasons is they have no proof. Also I did not ask for proof, merely stated that i'm indifferent until proof is provided. Therefore I am not contradicting myself.

My point, which you seem to have skipped over in your rush to insult ppl, is many ppl exspressed intrest in seeing an N64 emu even if it ran slowly. But because it seems so implausible they automaticaly belive this attempt (false or not) to be fake.

Finally, if your only going to use these boards to insult ppl without even reading what they have to say then at least you could use less course English than your chicken scratch crap!!

Sega Saturn and PSX use 32-bit processors. I think saturn is 2 x 25mhz CPUs and PSX has a 1 x 33mhz CPU with more custom 3D graphics hardware.

Nintendo 64 uses a very powerful 64-bit CPU @~90mhz, some RD-RAM and a GPU of around 66mhz. The n64 used anti-aliasing (and aniso-tropic filtering) way before any of the stuff was mainstream - this is why N64 games look fuzzy on a normal television....

Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 are based around 128-bit processors.

Although it was capable of anti-aliasing, no game ever used it. The reason why everything is so blurry is because of the low resolution most games use, and the generally crappy video output the system produces.

Nope, at least if you mean the CPU. The xbox has slightly modified celeron cpu, which is 32 bit, the Gamecube has a PowerPC processor, which is is mostly 32bit, however it has a 64bit floating point unit, and the PS2, well, its pretty hard to tell. The PS2s hardware is much different to anything else. It's main CPU is 128 bit, however there are so many co-processors which arent well documented that I really can't tell you for sure.
 
Yes Dozer, 64bit processors for the home and small business have recently come out. But 64bit processors have been around a long time (The N64 being only the first games console).

Correct me if i'm wrong (i'm no hardware expert), just because a processor is 64bit doesn't make it faster though, it still need to be able to process the same amount of information. But now it can process the data in chunks of 64 not 32. In practise this makes todays computers faster because of where they 'bottleneck'.

I guess though any emu would have to run each instruction set twice no matter what the speed of the process, automatically cutting speed in half.

The N64 was 93.75 Mhz and 62.5 Mhz (graphics), double that and then double it again just because it a software emu.

624.8 Mhz (maybe if I overclocked my GP32 a little bit more :D )

There is an N64 emu for the PC (I know that not fake because i've played Star Fox on it). I wonder how many Mhz that needs?
 
ah rite, all v. confusing then :huh:. i think there should b a new standard found by how long it takes to do calculations of some sort. or a range of things maybe. then u could compare each processor and its co-hadware directly.

:D I did some research and discovered that 64 bit processors just came out like 2 years ago. Now if that's true, N64 being 6 or 7 years old could not possibly be 64 bits. A 90 mhz processor simply does not have the capacity for 64 bits. That is probably why they just came out with 64 bit computers recently.
 
Now you're all picking at straws.

Yes - a N64 and PSX emulator for the GP32 are technically possible. Will they ever appear? No. Why? Because IT IS FEESIBLY IMPOSSIBLE.

Serious Problems:
- The N64 and PSX both have dedicated graphics chips. The GP32 have none, which means the CPU would have to do the work (which is a slow process).

- The N64 and PSX ROM size exceed the GP32's working RAM memory space (which is 4MB, not 8MB). Custom bioses may be able to increase the working RAM space to 8MB, but that really wouldn't solve the problem.

- The PSX ISO images greatly exceed the compacity of the SMC! That means the images would have to be rended between 2-4 128MB SMCs.

This doesn't even begin to mention about the problems adapting the current PSX and N64 emulators, which have a lot of ASM speed-ups.

Technically, it's possible to create a N64 and PSX emulator. Given about three years and a team of highly professional and dedicated programmers, I think we can see workable emulators for both of them. I'm not being sarcastic here. I'm being realistic.

Let me equate this debate of "Will N64/PSX/XBOX/etc. ever be emulated on the GP32" with the debate of "What are facts?" The definition of a fact is something that is always true. Obviously, what we consider to be "facts", such as the Earth revolves around the Sun, etc., are only true to our current understanding of the matter. The only reason to debate is to exercise in debate and philosophy. Just like the emulators.

Now, enough with this. A few more "words of encouragement", and I'll lock this topic.

Would it be possible that the n64 used two 32 bit processors to create a '64' bit machine?
