yoyofr's Secret project

hola! I suppose things are clear now :D

don't expect too much plz, or you'll be disappointed.

1/ most of the rom are running well (75-100%) but NOT PERFECT at fs 2, 156Mhz
(perhaps at 166Mhz fs 1 is ok, I dunno)
but some others are definitely slow! (ff 6, chrono, ...)
the pb is the cpu emu is still in C. Replacement with the asm cpu from Laxer3a
is on the way and should boost performance. but it will take time...

2/ transparency is not supported, but some emu options can help with
opaque layers pb (zelda,...). basically you can ask the emu to not show
some of the bgs arbitrary or the transparent ones.

3/ source code will be freely available with the first public version.
for coders : there will be more than just the snes9x port. we added so much
thing, that we think about doing a new lib with all the stuff.

and please remember of the brave ThunderZ who's working on the emu
'til 04:30AM when I has to wake up at 07:00AM and go to work ;)

Nice one Yoyo.

75-100% with fs2 at 156mhz is amazing. I dont mind fs 3, and i can overclock to 166mhz. so this should be brilliant as it is, never mind with the possible boosted performance over time.

All i can say is WelldoneandThankyou

(not forgetting the brave ThunderZ.) :)

btw-- is there a screen stretch option??

Hmm, dont get me wrong, but the features discussed so far could be used for Snes9xGP too. It runs most games fine w/o sound. Chrono Trigger is slow too, Zelda is playable. So the only good point I can see now is that this emu may live longer, not get forsaken like Snes9xGP. If they are really rewriting it in asm, then we do have something to look forward to :)
Good luck with the project

Also from one of yoyo's earlier post, he said it reminded him of the first version of litle jhon compared to the one we have now, so i'm expecting that the emu will be just like the 1st version of litle jhon but with super nintendo games. And if thats the case then this emu will be very playable unlike the other snes emus out now.

Too late now ;)
The fact is that Little John GP is a very solid emulator. Version 0.1 was already excellent and version 0.4 is damn near flawless. The work on Little John GP is, in my case, what makes me excited about this upcoming SNES project. And with news of an ASM core... it's just so sweet.
Good luck for you, ThunderZ and Laxer03.

a snes emulator with this speed is excellent news,
i can't wait till its released

BUT.......

the most important thing about the clues is........SAVEING

We can save our games....YEAH

bring it on, all we need know is a release date for the first version in C.

sask

Does it play super metriod well? (I doubt it.... But asking anyways...)

Oh, and plz, plz release it b4 tuesday... Or at least can you give me a beta? That would be the 2nd time that I go on a vacation w/ long trip just before something cool comes out... Unless it isn't released until I come back...

hmm ok yoyo...
im still intrested in it, since i think (and hope) that you will work on this project like you did on ljgp.. and every version gets better/faster.
i hope you go well with converting it to asm to get more speed..
GOOD WORK!!!

PS: can you make also (PLEASE!!!!!) a 150option when you release it?
OK THANKS!!!

bye

Source code is being released, so anyone could just change the clock speed to anything then compile it w/o hacking, so I wouldn't worry....

you know what? I am actually surprised. this is great news (been said enough times already, but every bit counts)

and I know I should hold my thoughts until I see the emu for myself, but I REALLY want to see this piss off all the Zodiac pussies who traded up for that half-functioning expen$ive PDA that doesn't have any decent emulators for it.

Also, I think we need to start sending bars of gold to the houses of the guys that wrote this thing (and their peers) - well done. Again I shouldn't say anything until the release comes out, but they have a rep and I think it's safe to assume they're not full of it at this point!

I hope it's as good as it is in my mind.

That would rock.

Okay, since you now know what it is, I release some testing infos:

I tried the emulator at 133, 156 and 166 MHz. It's running fine :)
Some games (like Magical Drop) run perfect with fs 1 at 133 MHz, while some need a bit more power.
Most games I tried ran fullspeed fs 1 with 166 MHz and fs 2 - 3 at 133 MHz!

The only issue I found is the transparency...
Apparently the transparency doesn't work too good right now, so you'll have problems with some games (graphical glitches with SMW and Zelda - sadly making Zelda nearly unplayable).

But what most of you will certainly like:
Super Mario Kart runs very nice fullspeed :)

This emu certainly has a bright future in my opinion :)
